UFC boss Dana White appears to have rejected the idea of Jon Jones competing on next year’s White House event. As we know, Jon Jones is currently retired from mixed martial arts. However, he now seems to be going back on that, suggesting that he’s going to make a push to compete on the UFC White House card next year. As you can imagine, this is pretty frustrating for a lot of fans given that Jon spent so long dodging a fight against Tom Aspinall.

The Octagon returned to Louisian for tonight’s UFC 318 event, and five fighters walked away with performance bonuses. This evening’s pay-per-view fight card was headlined by a trilogy match between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway for the promotion’s BMF title. The highly anticipated contest proved to be the thrilling back and forth war that most fans were hoping for. Although Holloway got the best of Poirier early, ‘The Diamond’ was able to battle back scoring a knockdown and some stellar moments of his own. However, after 25 minutes of action, it was clear that ‘Blessed’ had finally got the best of ‘The Diamond’ and went on to be awarded a much-deserved unanimous decision win.

On Saturday in New Orleans, Max Holloway will defend the BMF championship against Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 318. The two men will lock horns in Poirier’s home state of Louisiana, in what will serve as his last ever professional fight in mixed martial arts. It’s been an incredible run for ‘The Diamond’ but now, he’s ready to ride off into the sunset once and for all.

As we now know, Jon Jones has seemingly decided to break his mixed martial arts retirement – just a few weeks after he retired in the first place. The reason he’s done so is because the UFC announced they are planning on heading to the White House for a PPV event next summer. ‘Bones’, as you can probably imagine, can already see how much potential there would be in terms of earnings for just one fight.
