UFC welterweight contender Kevin Holland isn’t exactly eyeing a title fight anytime soon. ‘Big Mouth’ has been out of the octagon since a first-round submission win over Michael Chiesa in July. That was Kevin Holland’s second stoppage victory in a row, previously knocking out Santiago Ponzibbio in April at UFC 287. Now, he’s set for his third fight of the year opposite Jack Della Maddalena this Saturday.

Kevin Holland would like to share the Octagon with Ian Machado Garry, but he doesn’t think the bout will happen in the near future. Garry has been emerging in the UFC welterweight division. He’s fresh off a dominant unanimous decision victory over seasoned veteran Neil Magny at UFC 292. Garry has called for a showdown with Stephen Thompson, but “Wonderboy” is more interested in a clash with former UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.

A welterweight banger will serve as the co-main event of Noche UFC in September. Noche UFC is the Mexican Independence Day Card on Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The original co-main event was Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Kelvin Gastelum, but the latter was forced out of the scrap due to an injury. Now, Twitter user Stand Em Up has reported that Kevin Holland will take on Jack Della Maddalena as the new co-main event.

The UFC 291 salaries have been released – but only a handful have actually been made public for fans to see. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most recent pay-per-view event was, by all accounts, a success. The promotion put on another fantastic card, headlined by Justin Gaethje knocking out Dustin Poirier to win the BMF title. In addition to that, we also saw a parade of other fun match-ups, setting us up for even more entertaining collisions in the future.

Kevin Holland gave a brutally honest take on Michael Chiesa’s fighting future following UFC 291. Holland and Chiesa shared the Octagon in the UFC 291 main card opener. This one didn’t last long, as Holland was able to secure a choke in the opening frame. Chiesa has now lost three fights in a row and has been submitted in two of those fights. It’s a tough skid for Chiesa, who had previously been on a four-fight winning streak prior to this current stretch.

Kevin Holland knows his takedown defense isn’t top level just yet but says it’s plenty good enough to beat Michael Chiesa at UFC 291. When Holland was fighting at middleweight, he was easily taken down by Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori. The losses showed a hole in his game and since then, Holland has dropped to welterweight and hasn’t had to show off much of his takedown defense as he has been fighting strikers.

It was at UFC 287 this past weekend that Kevin Holland (24-9 MMA) got back in the win column with a brutal third round stoppage victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio (30-7 MMA).

In the co-main event of UFC 287, Masvidal is expected to face Gilbert Burns. Meanwhile, Holland is slated to face Santiago Ponzibbio on the main card in a welterweight showcase.

This Saturday night at UFC 287, Santiago Ponzinibbio returns to the Octagon to take on Kevin Holland. The two welterweights are both known as action fighters and while it may not be a clash between top contenders, it’ll certainly be an intense collision.

Holland is set to face Santiago Ponzinibbio on the pay-per-view main card while Masvidal is in the co-main event against Gilbert Burns. In that outing, ‘Wonderboy’ dominated en route to a fourth-round stoppage victory. The defeat was Holland’s second in a row, having previously lost by submission to Khamzat Chimaev.

Thompson entered the fight on a two-fight losing streak after being outwrestled by Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns. With that, he made it clear he wanted to fight a striker and even turned down a matchup with Shavkat Rakhmonov. Meanwhile, Holland was coming off a submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev in a fight he took on a day’s notice which snapped his two-fight winning streak.
