Davey Grant was hoping to get one fight in 2024 after having to withdraw from his bout back in March. Grant was supposed to face Cody Gibson in March, but an injury that required surgery forced him to pull out. Having to withdraw from any fight was tough for Grant, but he says the goal was to return before the year was up.

Colby Covington has a new head coach ahead of his return at UFC Tampa. Covington is set to take on Joaquin Buckley on Saturday night at UFC Tampa in a pivotal welterweight bout. It’s Covington’s first fight since he suffered a decision loss to Leon Edwards last year for the welterweight title.

Former UFC heavyweight contender Greg Hardy was brutally knocked out in the boxing ring earlier today. The former NFL player famously had an up-and-down tenure with Dana White from 2019 to 2022. While Greg Hardy initially had success in the UFC, he hit a wall in 2020. In his last three bouts, the heavyweight contender was brutally knocked out by Marcin Tybura, Tai Tuivasa, and Serghei Spivac.

The only place UFC champion Belal Muhammad will fight Colby Covington is on the street. ‘Remember The Name’ hasn’t been seen in the cage since facing Leon Edwards at UFC 304 in July. Despite entering the cage a heavy betting underdog, Belal Muhammad wound up dominating ‘Rocky’ in Manchester. After five rounds of action, the Palestinian fighter was finally crowned UFC welterweight champion by unanimous decision.

Michael Chandler believes he could face Paddy Pimblett in the very near future. Chandler is coming off a decision loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 in his return to the Octagon. Following the loss, Chandler called out Conor McGregor but with the Irishman dealing with legal issues, his future is in doubt. With that, Chandler doesn’t have a clear-cut next opponent, but one fight that he does have an interest in is Pimblett.

Nobody can accuse Curtis Blaydes of ducking fights. The former UFC interim heavyweight title challenger, currently ranked No. 5 in the weight class, is reportedly set to welcome debuting prospect Rizvan Kuniev to the Octagon. The fight is apparently set for Feb. 22, when the UFC returns to Seattle.

“The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung isn’t likely to return to the Octagon, but he won’t rule out the possibility entirely. Jung’s last pro MMA fight took place back in August 2023. He fought Max Holloway in the main event of a UFC Singapore card. “The Korean Zombie” fought his heart out, just as he always has. With that said, Jung was knocked out in the third round and hung up his gloves for good.

Alexander Gustafsson isn’t done yet. The former UFC light heavyweight title challenger recently signed with upstart MMA promotion Global Fight League (GFL), and is reportedly close to inking a deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). In a recent interview with Matias Andres of Maximum Sports, Gustafsson’s manager Majdi Shammas opened up on his client’s deal with GFL.

The UFC Tampa weigh-in results are in and there was no scale fail to be had. All 26 fighters scheduled to compete on this Saturday’s Fight Night card weighed in on Friday morning. That includes welterweight headliners Colby Covington and Joaquin Buckley. Both men tipped the scales at 171 pounds ahead of their pivotal showdown inside Amalie Arena.

Anthony Smith doesn’t think Dominick Reyes is that good despite losing to him via TKO at UFC 310. Smith took on Reyes last Saturday in a prelim fight between two ranked light heavyweights. Smith was looking to get back into the win column, but he struggled right from the get-go. Reyes was to land some big power shots and eventually got a stoppage win in the second round.

Back for the first time since being submitted by Dustin Poirier in 2022, Michael Chandler again faced Charles Oliveira. While the former Bellator champion was initially set to face Conor McGregor in June, ‘The Notorious’ withdrew due to injury.

Back for the first time since being submitted by Dustin Poirier two years ago, Michael Chandler again met Charles Oliveira. ‘Do Bronx’ previously handed the former Bellator star a knockout loss in a bid for vacant UFC gold in 2021.

UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is elaborating on his comments about a lightweight move. ‘El Matador’ is fresh off his return to the cage in the main event of UFC 308 in October. Just months after dethroning Alexander Volkanovski, Ilia Topuria met another featherweight great in the form of Max Holloway. ‘Blessed’ earned the title bout riding a wave of momentum, having knocked out Justin Gaethje in April in a rare lightweight appearance.

Ilia Topuria has expressed a desire to move on from the featherweight division, and his coach has explained why. Topuria is the reigning UFC featherweight titleholder. He’s had one successful title defense and that was a huge knockout victory over Max Holloway at UFC 308 back in October. To capture the gold at 145 pounds, Topuria knocked out Alexander Volkanovski. While some might say a move to lightweight is too soon for Topuria, he’s already beat two future UFC Hall of Famers and stalwarts of the featherweight division.

Joe Rogan is uncertain if we’ll ever see UFC star Conor McGregor back in the Octagon. On Nov. 22, a jury in Dublin, Ireland’s High Court ruled McGregor was civically liable for sexually assaulting a woman named Nikita Hand in local hotel room in 2018. The court ordered the former two-division UFC champion to pay just shy of $260,000 in damages, and the fallout continued from there, as many of his corporate partners — including his beloved Proper No. 12 whiskey — cut ties with him.
