Fans were surprised to see Jalin Turner inform media members that he will be retiring following his first-round submission defeat to Ignacio Bahamondes. While Turner told John Morgan that he’d been mulling over retirement since a UFC 300 loss to Renato Moicano, one defeated fighter on the UFC 313 doesn’t plan to follow suit.

Dana White wouldn’t be surprised if Justin Gaethje earns another shot at the UFC Lightweight Championship. Gaethje was featured in the co-main event of UFC 313 this past Saturday night. While “The Highlight” was preparing to slug it out with Dan Hooker, a hand injury forced “The Hangman” off the card. Taking his place was Rafael Fiziev, a man Gaethje was familiar with. Gaethje defeated Fiziev in their first encounter via majority decision back in 2023.

Tom Aspinall has reacted to Alex Pereira’s UFC 313 loss. As UFC 313 approached, many were wondering if UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones would forgo a title unification bout against interim titleholder Tom Aspinall in favor of a showdown with “Poatan.” Pereira ended up losing the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, putting a halt to that idea.

Ignacio Bahamondes feels gutted following Jalin Turner’s retirement announcement. Bahamondes shared the Octagon with Turner on the main card of UFC 313 this past Saturday. Turner was trapped in a triangle choke and he tapped out in the opening frame. After the fight, Turner told media members at Octagon side that he has decided to retire. He told John Morgan that he first considered retirement when he was stopped by Renato Moicano at UFC 300.

Daniel Cormier believes he knows how Magomed Ankalaev found success in the standup against Alex Pereira. Ankalaev is the newly-minted UFC Light Heavyweight Champion following UFC 313. He defeated Pereira via unanimous decision inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Ankalaev was able to make “Poatan” hesitate throughout the fight. This became clear following the end of round two, which saw Ankalaev land a punch that sent Pereira into the Octagon cage.

Last night, Magomed Ankalaev was able to defeat Alex Pereira and capture the UFC light heavyweight championship. It was a solid performance from the man who, for the longest time, couldn’t quite break through to that next level. Now, however, he holds the gold, and he holds all of the cards at 205 pounds.

For the longest time now, fans have been discussing the possibility of Jon Jones battling Tom Aspinall for the undisputed heavyweight championship. UFC champion Magomed Ankalaev has sent a message to Alex Pereira following his victory over the Brazilian at UFC 313 last night. On Saturday night, Magomed Ankalaev made his dreams come true. He was able to defeat Alex Pereira in a contest that, in the eyes of many, didn’t quite live up to the hype. Alas, Ankalaev went out there and did his job, which is all you can really ask for.

Pereira (12-3 MMA) was returing to action for the first time since scoring a fourth-round TKO victory over Khalil Rountree Jr. at October’s UFC 307 event (see that here). That victory had marked ‘Poatan’s’ third defense of the 205lbs title, as he had previously defeated Jiri Prochazka (x2) and Jamahal Hill.

Tonight’s UFC 313 main card lineup kicked off with a lightweight bout between Mauricio Ruffy and King Green. Ruffy (12-1 MMA) had gone a perfect 2-0 since joining the UFC in May of last year and many pundits have him pegged as a future champion. ‘One Shot’ had most previously competed at November’s UFC 309 event, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over James Llontop. The Brazilian made his Octagon debut at UFC 301, scoring a first-round finish over Jamie Mullarkey.
