Stephen Thompson is expecting to receive ‘some backpay’ when he squares off with Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 296. ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson (17-6 MMA) is set to meet up with the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov (17-0 MMA) in a welterweight bout on Saturday, December 16th at UFC 296 which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Weeks following his last fight, UFC veteran The Korean Zombie has recieved a gift. The longtime fan-favorite returned to the cage against Max Holloway late last month in Singapore. Ahead of the contest, The Korean Zombie stated that with a loss, he might hang up the gloves for good. Heading into the bout, the South Korean fighter had suffered two losses in his three most recent fights, including to Alexander Volkanovski.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will seemingly return early next year. ‘The Great’ has been out of action since a title defense against Yair Rodriguez in July at UFC 290. There, Alexander Volkanovski scored a third-round stoppage victory over ‘El Pantera’. That was a massive win for the champion, as he was coming off a controversial loss to Islam Makhachev in February.

Mark Hunt has lost his long-running lawsuit against the UFC, Brock Lesnar, and Dana White. In 2016, ‘The Super Somoan’ stepped up to face the former heavyweight champion at UFC 200. That July, Brock Lesnar scored a unanimous decision win over Mark Hunt and quickly teased a full-time comeback. However, a failed pre-fight drug test put an end to those plans.

The Orleans Parish District Attorney announced they will not pursue criminal charges against Nate Diaz. Earlier this year, Diaz was involved in a street brawl on Bourbon Street following a Misfits boxing event. Video surfaced of Diaz getting into a scuffle with social media influencer and boxer Rodney Peterson. The former UFC star ended up choking Peterson unconsious and ended up turning himself in to the New Orleans Police Department and was booked on a felony second-degree battery charge in April.

Former UFC champion Jamahal Hill has hit out at Mateusz Gamrot for celebrating his win over Rafael Fiziev. Last weekend, Mateusz Gamrot was able to defeat Rafael Fiziev in the second round of their lightweight collision. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly a clean win, as Fiziev’s knee gave out and ensured that he was unable to continue. In the immediate aftermath, Gamrot was clearly very pleased to come away with the win, although he made it clear in his post-fight interview that it wasn’t the way he wanted it to happen.
