Mark Hunt is standing by Francis Ngannou as the heavyweight champion is in a contract dispute with the UFC. At UFC 270, Ngannou defeated Ciryl Gane by decision to defend his belt but the big storyline was the fight being the last on his current deal. In the lead-up to the scrap, Ngannou and the UFC were not seeing eye-to-eye and following the contest Dana White didn’t even wrap the belt around “The Predator’s” waist.

Former UFC fighter Mark Hunt has hit out at the UFC over fighter pay as his ongoing legal battle with the promotion continues. Back in 2016, Mark Hunt’s UFC journey hit a major road block after he was beaten by Brock Lesnar at UFC 200. The win in itself wasn’t too controversial as opposed to the aftermath, in which it was changed to a no-contest due to Lesnar testing positive in a post-fight drug test.

Hunt filed a lawsuit against the Ultimate Fighting Championship shortly following his fight with Brock Lesnar at UFC 200. ‘The Super Samoan’ claimed that the promotion put him in the cage with a fighter in Lesnar, who he says the UFC knew was using PED’s. The court case was originally dismissed in 2019, however the appeals court decided to reopen the cases on fraud and battery in September of 2021.

Mark Hunt has hit back at the UFC’s claim that Justin Tafa was the first heavyweight in the promotion’s history to miss weight. Last Saturday night, Justin Tafa knocked Harry Hunsucker out to register his first mixed martial arts win since February 2020. However, while the victory was nice, it was slightly ruined by the fact that Tafa weighed in at 267 and therefore became the first heavyweight to officially miss the mark in UFC history.

Former UFC heavyweight title contender Mark Hunt reacted after scoring a court win against the UFC and its president Dana White. Hunt alleged that the UFC and White knew that Brock Lesnar took performance-enhancing drugs before his return to the Octagon at UFC 200 in July 2016, a fight that Lesnar won via unanimous decision. Following the fight, Lesnar tested positive for PEDs and the result of the fight was overturned to a No Contest. Hunt, however, continued to go after the UFC legally for putting him in the cage with a fighter who he says the UFC knew was using PEDs. Hunt filed a lawsuit against the UFC soon after, but the majority of his claims were thrown out in court in 2019. However, the appeals court reopened the case last week.

Hunt, who spent the most recent chapter of his career competing in the UFC heavyweight division, parted ways with the promotion in 2018 amid a heated legal dispute. After a period of inactivity, the 46-year-old legend signed on for a professional boxing match with rugby star Paul Gallen at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Mark Hunt is set to return to boxing on December 16 in Australia against Paul Gallen. Hunt is currently 0-1-1 as a pro boxer as he lost to Josh Wyborn in 1999. He then had his second fight in 2000 and fought Joe Askew to a draw. Following that, he then turned his attention to MMA.

It’s no secret that Mark Hunt is not a fan of Performance-Enhancing drug use in MMA — particularly in the UFC. Now that the’s parted ways with the UFC, he’s even more open about his feelings on the issue. “They’ve actually taken my love for fighting away because of how they promote steroids and cheaters, how they’ve done it all,” Hunt told MMA UK recently, speaking of the UFC (transcript via MMA Fighting). “They’ve pushed me out of the way, to be honest and that’s what’s taken my love for fighting away. It’s kind of sad because they should be promoting the guy that’s not cheating whereas they are promoting the cheaters of this sport, which is wrong. I actually thought Jeff Novitzky was a nice person but he’s just a sellout. You’re a sellout, bro. That’s the bottom line.”
