Ian Machado Garry believes there’s a path to facing the No. 1 pound-for-pound UFC fighter Islam Makhachev. At the moment, Garry is the No. 7-ranked welterweight, while Makhachev holds the UFC Lightweight Championship. Makhachev has made it clear that his ultimate goal is to win the UFC welterweight gold to become a two-division champion. One holdup is that his teammate Belal Muhammad is the reigning 170-pound titleholder.

Aspinall has made it clear that while he’d like to fight Jones to determine the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion, he’s willing to have another fight just to remain active. One former UFC veteran remains surprised that a WWE superstar was allowed to compete inside the Octagon. MMA and pro wrestling have been linked throughout the years. Many of the UFC’s top stars have taken inspiration from WWE with special walkouts. We’ve even see a former WWE champion in Brock Lesnar become a UFC heavyweight titleholder. While Lesnar had the amateur wrestling credentials to earn his spot on the UFC roster, one fellow WWE superstar did not.

Garry’s distance management and fight IQ were on full display for his bout with Prates this past Saturday. In the first three rounds, many were wondering when Prates would put his foot on the gas. Garry wasn’t allowing the Brazilian bruiser to close the distance. In the fourth round, Prates began to find more success tagging his opponent.

Despite enjoying his time at “WrestleMania 41,” don’t expect UFC CEO Dana White to run a stadium show again for the foreseeable future. White was in attendance for WWE’s two-night PLE at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. WWE announced a total attendance of 124,693 across both evenings. White admitted that he was in awe of the atmosphere.

Anthony Smith has explained his issue with one fan following his retirement fight at UFC Kansas City. Smith entered the Octagon for the final time as an active fighter this past Saturday. He went one-on-one with Zhang Mingyang in the co-main event. Mingyang’s elbows sliced the top of Smith’s head. Mingyang followed up with some vicious ground-and-pound to get the first-round TKO finish.

Last night, Carlos Prates fell short in his attempt to overcome Ian Machado Garry. While he did take the fight on short notice, it seemed as if there was a notable gulf between the two in terms of strategy, game planning and overall execution. With that being said, Carlos did manage to significantly hurt Ian in the fifth and final round – but he wasn’t quite able to get him out of there.

The UFC is headed back to Atlanta, Georgia, and UFC CEO Dana White has announced the main and co-main event. Taking to Instagram Live, White announced that the main event of the card will see former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman taking on Joaquin Buckley. The event will take place on June 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
