In the lead-up to fight night on Saturday, the biggest concern for Alex Hernandez was his placement on the card. Then, when the second round of his bout with Renato Moicano got underway, he had a whole host of other problems to deal with as he was beaten from pillar to post by the Brazilian before being submitted.

Renato Moicano plans to prove he belongs among lightweight best with win over Jai Herbert

Renato Moicano was hoping to get some ranked opponents when he moved up to lightweight, but that hasn’t happened. The Brazilian was a top-10 featherweight but when he moved up he fought Damir Hadzovic and won by submission. In his next fight, he suffered a TKO loss to Rafael Fiziev. He will now face Jai Herbert at UFC Vegas 30.

Renato Moicano forced to withdraw from planned Magomed Mustafaev bout on Fight Island

Renato Moicano has been forced to pull out of his planned Fight Island bout against Magomed Mustafaev, Ag Fight reports. Moicano made a successful transition up to lightweight back in March when he was able to submit Damir Hadžović in just 44 seconds over in Brazil. He was initially set to square off with Mustafaev on October 17, who has won three of his five UFC bouts thus far, but it now appears as if that’s no longer happening.

Renato Moicano isn’t pleased with the way he handled himself following his win at UFC Brasilia. Moicano was moving up to lightweight after back-to-back losses and quickly submitted Damir Hazdovic in under a minute. At UFC 250, Aldo, who is 0-1 at bantamweight and riding a two-fight losing skid is fighting for the belt against Henry Cejudo. It is a fight the champion called for and one that UFC president Dana White wanted due to Jose Aldo being a legend.

Renato Moicano coach 'flabbergasted' by Korean Zombie loss

In the main event of Saturday’s UFC Greenville card, Renato Moicano sought to rebound from a TKO loss to Jose Aldo with a big win over fan favorite “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. Regrettably for the Brazilian and his team, this fight went quite disastrously, as he was put down by a volley of punches in less than a minute. Speaking to Combate shortly after this UFC Greenville setback, Moicano’s coach Gabriel de Oliveira claimed he has no explanation for this tough loss, and admitted that his pupil was too predictable in the cage.

The Octagon made its debut in South Carolina last night with UFC Greenville. In the main event, Chan Sung Jung, AKA “The Korean Zombie” was back after the last second knockout loss he suffered to Yair Rodriguez in November. He was taking on Brazil’s Renato Moicano, who was coming off of a TKO loss to Jose Aldo. The fight did not last long as The Korean Zombie finished Moicano with a massive right hand and some followup ground strikes in just 58 seconds.

Raphael Marinho, of Brazilian outlet Combate, is reporting the two featherweights have verbally agreed to meet at UFC Greenville on June 22. The report also says it’s uncertain if the bout will be a five-round main event, or will fall earlier on the main card.

Renato Moicano spoke with MMAJunkierecently and said that if Aldo – who was recently admitted to the hospital for a bacterial infection – is forced to withdraw from his fight against Alexander Volkanovski on May 11 that he’d be willing to step up in his place.
