The Octagon remains in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 50 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Thiago Santos vs. Magomed Ankalaev. Santos (22-9 MMA), a former light heavyweight title challenger, will be looking to earn his second straight win when he takes to the Octagon this evening. ‘Marreta’ last competed back in October, where he earned a unanimous decision victory over Johnny Walker.

Heavyweight fighter Greg Hardy (7-5 MMA) has parted ways with the UFC according to a recent post on social media. Hardy was handed his third straight defeat at last weekend’s UFC 272 event, suffering a first round knockout loss to Sergey Spivak. The former NFL star had dropped back-to-back stoppage losses to Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura in his most previous efforts.

Tonight’s Eagle FC 46 event was headlined by a super lightweight bout between former UFC stars Kevin Lee and Diego Sanchez. The former interim lightweight title challenger, Lee (19-7 MMA), was let go by Dana White and company back in 2021, this after suffering setbacks in four of his final five Octagon appearances. During that rough stretch the ‘MoTown Phenom’ suffered setbacks to Al Iaquinta, Rafael dos Anjos, Charles Oliveira and Daniel Rodriguez respectively.
Dustin Jacoby eyes Ryan Spann at International Fight Week after UFC 272 win

Dustin Jacoby is happy he overcame adversity to beat Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC 272. Jacoby entered the fight with a foot injury that limited him throwing kicks, and he says for the first time in his career he thought about pulling out. However, he decided to take the fight and after landing a kick early, he realized he wouldn’t be able to throw another one for the rest of the fight.

Jake Paul has continued mocking Conor McGregor, this time taking a shot at recent training footage of ‘The Notorious’. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is coming off a knockout win over Tyron Woodley in December. Following the victory, he once again decided to call out Conor McGregor. He’s previously called for a fight with the Irish superstar on many occasions.

Despite his recent talk of coming out of retirement, Henry Cejudo doesn’t think he’ll get the chance to compete again. The former UFC dual-weight champion retired following a win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. However, almost immediately following the victory, he began discussing a comeback. He’s been angling for a fight with Alexander Volkanovski at featherweight for the past few months. However, he’s been shot down by Dana White every time the bout is brought up.

Chael Sonnen believes Israel Adesanya’s next opponent will be Colby Covington. Adesanya has cleared out most of the middleweight division and although Jared Cannonier appears to be next for the title shot, Sonnen thinks Covington makes sense. ‘Chaos’ is 0-2 against Kamaru Usman and won’t get a welterweight title shot anytime soon, but he is a big name and would be a test for Adesanya.

Kevin Lee doesn’t understand why the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended him for using Adderall. Lee did not apply for an exemption to use the drug, which he regrets, but he believes it shouldn’t even be prohibited. It is a drug that is prescribed by doctors and something he needs for his ADHD. Along with getting suspended, he had to pay a fine which he says is ridiculous.

Michael Chandler (22-7 MMA) last fought back in November 2021 at UFC 268 where he suffered defeat at the hands of Justin Gaethje (23-3 MMA). ‘Iron’ is now scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson (26-6 MMA) in a much anticipated bout at UFC 274 on May 7, 2022, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Henry Cejudo, (16-2 MMA) retired after successfully defending his UFC bantamweight title by TKO over Dominick Cruz (24-3 MMA) in the second round at UFC 249 in May of 2020. Conor McGregor (22-6 MMA) is preparing himself for a UFC comeback after a broken ankle which he suffered during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier (28-7 MMA). It was at UFC 264, in July of 2021, where McGregor went down to defeat against Poirier and suffered his injury. Poirier has been victorious in 2 of the 3 fights between the two.

Michael Bisping has given his opinion on the lack of corner stoppages in MMA. ‘The Count’ was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to discuss a variety of topics. One that came up was last weekend’s UFC 272 bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Renato Moicano. The fight came under a lot of scrutiny stemming from the amount of punishment that the latter was taking. Both the referee and Moicano’s corner come under heavy criticism.
