Former UFC champion Anthony Pettis will be facing Chris Avila on the undercard of Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz’s rematch in the boxing ring. Earlier this year, ‘Gamebred’ unretired, and set his sights on the boxing ring. After months of discussion, Jorge Masvidal signed a deal to face former rival Nate Diaz in a rematch of sorts on June 1st. Back at UFC 244 in November 2019, the Miami native handed the fan-favorite a stoppage loss after the third round.

The current titleholder is hoping with a win over ‘Blessed’, he will get to face Islam Makhachev.

Conor McGregor has confirmed that he will be facing Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29th. The comeback of ‘The Notorious’ has been long in the making. In the summer of 2021, the Irishman broke his leg in the final seconds of the first round against Dustin Poirier. As a result, Conor McGregor was forced to the sideline for well over two years. In the meantime, he appeared in the remake of the recently-released movie, Road House.

Former RIZIN and K-1 fighter Akebono Taro has passed away at the age of 54. The early 2000s were the Wild West in regard to MMA. Over in Japan, that was especially the case. While freakshow fights still go on today, they were never as prevalent as they were two decades ago. One man who competed in multiple of those bouts, is former Sumo champion, Akebono Taro.
