He will do so against Magomed Ankalaev, with many believing that this is the toughest test ‘Poatan’ has faced since arriving at 205 pounds. When you look at Ankalaev’s track record, it’s hard to argue against that.

In the end, though, he was beaten, with Manel making a real statement to the rest of the flyweight division.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has weighed in on Urijah Faber’s planned comeback. ‘The California Kid’ hasn’t been in the cage in over five years now. Urijah Faber last appeared in action at UFC 245 in December 2019, in a fight against future champion Petr Yan. Sadly for the former WEC titleholder, he was dominated by ‘No Mercy’ en route to a third-round knockout loss. The defeat was his first, since coming out of retirement in 2018.

UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad has no interest in facing Leon Edwards again. ‘Rocky’ recently signed a deal to return to the octagon in March. In the main event of UFC London, Leon Edwards will meet the rising Sean Brady. Ahead of the bout, the former welterweight champion has stated his belief that he can earn a title shot with a win. The fight against Brady will be the Brit’s first, since losing his gold to Belal Muhammad last summer.

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Pena doesn’t care about the odds ahead of her fight against Kayla Harrison. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ has been out of the cage since her title fight against Raquel Pennington last October. In the co-main event of UFC 307, Julianna Pena ended a two-year layoff to hand ‘Rocky’ a split-decision loss. In the process, she re-won the same gold she lost to Amanda Nunes in their rematch.

Ronda Rousey last appeared in the cage in the main event of UFC 207 in December 2016, in her comeback fight against Amanda Nunes. The former women’s bantamweight champion famously went on a hiatus following a knockout loss to Holly Holm the year previous.

Ankalaev is well-rounded, but it’s his grappling that many believe will be a stern test for Pereira.

As we know, Magomed Ankalaev is set to challenge Alex Pereira for the UFC light heavyweight championship on Saturday night. It will serve as the biggest fight of his career, and the second title shot he’s received in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Some are counting him out, whereas others believe this is the moment for him to finally ascend to the top of the division.
