UFC star Belal Muhammad has teased a showdown with Kamaru Usman in the wake of the latter’s win at UFC Atlanta. Last night, Kamaru Usman got back in the win column. He was able to largely dominate Joaquin Buckley in their entertaining UFC Atlanta main event, and although Buckley was able to have a big round in the fifth, it wasn’t enough. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ went back to basics and proved that while he may be a veteran in this division, that doesn’t mean he’s done – not by a long shot.

Former UFC champion Rose Namajunas has called her shot regarding possible next opponents after her win at UFC Atlanta. Last night, Rose Namajunas got back on track in a big way. She survived a nasty looking submission attempt from Miranda Maverick before ultimately, on the scorecards, defeating her. It was a solid return to form for the former two-time world champion and off the back of it, many are wondering where she now lies within the flyweight division.

The Octagon returned to Georgia for tonight’s UFC Atlanta event, and four fighters wound up taking home performance bonuses. This evening’s fight card was headlined by a highly anticipated welterweight bout featuring Kamaru Usman taking on Joaquin Buckley. The contest proved to be a dominant showing from the former champion in Usman. Although Buckley was able to stuff some takedowns and land some heavy shots in the final round, it was far too little far too late for ‘New Mansa’. Kamaru Usman did a lot of damage while working from top position on the floor in the opening four rounds and after 25-minutes it was clear that he had done more than enough to earn his first victory since 2021.

Usman (21-4 MMA) had entered tonight’s contest with hopes of snapping a three-fight losing skid. The former welterweight kingpin had most previously competed in October of 2023, where he suffered a majority decision loss to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had tasted his most previous victory in November of 2021, when he successfully defended the promotion‘s welterweight title with a unanimous decision win over Colby Covington.

Prior to that setback, ‘Thug’ had reeled off back-to-back wins over Tracey Cortes and Amanda Ribas respectively.

As we know, Ilia Topuria will battle Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 317. It’s a fight that has been in the works for a while now, with the two men being set to do battle over the UFC lightweight championship. The current champion, Islam Makhachev, will vacate the title the moment that the fight begins, as he begins to pursue a new dream – winning a second world title at welterweight.

Alexander Volkanovski has given his thoughts on the ongoing UFC heavyweight championship reign of Jon Jones. As we know, Jon Jones is currently the UFC heavyweight champion. We also know that Tom Aspinall is the interim UFC heavyweight champion. If you put two and two together, it would seem to make sense that they should be fighting for the undisputed championship. Alas, for whatever reason, it doesn’t seem like Jon is all too interested in making that happen.

UFC heavyweight Curtis Blaydes has given his thoughts on Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall and whether or not it’ll happen. As we know, Jon Jones is the UFC heavyweight champion. That’s been the case for a long time now but during his reign, he’s only actually fought twice in the division. The hope, and expectation, is that he will defend his belt against interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Unfortunately, Jon doesn’t seem to be all too interested in making that happen.

We may never see Francis Ngannou in the Octagon again, but the heavyweight star returned to the UFC stage in the lead-up to promotion’s Saturday night card in Atlanta, Georgia. Ngannou is the former UFC heavyweight champion. He never actually lost his belt, but instead vacated the title when he parted ways with the promotion in 2023. That means he’s still the lineal MMA heavyweight champion.

Artem Vakhitov didn’t like the offer he received from the UFC, so he rejected it. Vakhitov is an elite kickboxer, and is set to challenge long-reigning heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven in the main event of Glory 100 tomorrow. Before signing his new deal with Glory, he earned a UFC contract with a stoppage win on Dana White’s Contender Series. Despite his massive accomplishments as a kickboxer—which includes a win over former UFC champ Alex Pereira—it was a standard Contender Series contract. In other words, low five figures per fight. Having fought for much greater purses as a kickboxer, he turned it down.

Ilia Topuria says there’s one surging UFC lightweight contender who he hopes to settle some beef with. Topuria is set to fight for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship on June 28. He will take on former 155-pound titleholder Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 317 in Las Vegas. While “El Matador” must focus on the task at hand, he can’t avoid questions about the rest of the lightweight division.

Darren Till claims Nate Diaz bailed on plans to meet in the boxing ring this August. The good news is that another UFC veteran is allegedly considering accepting the fight at a later date. Till spent most of his UFC career speaking in the welterweight division, where he notably came up short in a title fight against Tyron Woodley. However, he also competed in the middleweight division.

Belal Muhammad has an interesting stance on Kamaru Usman’s UFC Atlanta main event against Joaquin Buckley. Usman and Buckley will go one-on-one inside State Farm Arena this Saturday. It’s a pivotal clash in the welterweight division. Usman is looking to prove that he’s still an elite 170-pounder at 38 years old. Meanwhile, Buckley is hoping to solidify that he represents a new generation of fighters that are putting the old guard out to pasture.
