GoFundMe shuts down Cain Velasquez fundraisers, issues refunds to donors

GoFundMe has shut down any fundraiser for Cain Velasquez. After news came out that Velasquez shot at a man who was recently charged with molesting a close relative of his, the MMA community rallied around the former heavyweight champ. They called for him to be freed from jail and fans started a GoFundMe to help offset the cost for his legal team. At least two legal fund campaigns have been shut down, GoFundMe confirmed citing a violation of terms of service.
Sean O'Malley says he's likely to return at UFC 274, names potential opponent

Sean O’Malley is hoping to return in May at UFC 274 in Arizona. O’Malley, who resides in Arizona, hinted at returning at that event in some prior Twitch live streams, but on Monday, he confirmed that is the plan as long as he’s healthy. O’Malley, of course, hurt his hand in his UFC 269 TKO win over Raulian Paiva and has been rehabbing that ever since.

Colby Covington has opened as a massive favorite over Dustin Poirier after “Chaos” called him out. Ever since Covington was kicked out of American Top Team, he has taken shots at Poirier, and “The Diamond” has said it’s on sight if he sees him. However, Poirier has said the fight won’t take place in the Octagon, but after Covington beat Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 he once again called for the scrap.

Harrison has been out of the cage since October 2021, a win over Taylor Guardado. The victory cemented her as a two-time PFL tournament champion, and also made her one of the hottest free agents in the sport. Her contract with the promotion notably expired following the win.

Although not many think the fight will happen given the Irishman is on a two-fight losing skid, the odds of a McGregor title fight seemingly increased after Dana White said he’s going to rebook Islam Makhachev-Beneil Dariush. For UFC commentator Joe Rogan, that decision sets McGregor up to fight for the belt.

Masvidal, meanwhile, was coming off back-to-back losses to Usman, the most recent being a nasty KO.

Cain Velasquez appeared in court today, Monday, March 7th where he was denied bail by Judge Shelyna Brown of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Cain is a former two-time UFC heavyweight champion and regarded as one of the best heavyweight fighters of all time. Retiring from MMA in 2019 he had a brief stint in WWE before being released in 2020. Velasquez, 39, has been coaching at his longtime American Kickboxing Academy gym in San Jose.

At this moment in time, Nate Diaz is on the last fight of his current deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The belief is that he’s going in search of one last big payday before riding off into the sunset with Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Jorge Masvidal all being touted as potential opponents.

Rafael dos Anjos is making it known that he would like the UFC to book a fight between him and Conor McGregor. A Dos Anjos (31-13 MMA) vs McGregor (22-6 MMA) fight was scheduled way back in March of 2016 at UFC 196. The bout never happened as ‘RDA’ had to withdraw because of a foot injury. It would be Nate Diaz (21-13 MMA) who took his place and won by submission in the second round over McGregor.
