The Octagon returns to England for today’s UFC London event, a fifteen-biout fight card headlined by Tom Aspinall vs. Marcin Tybura. Aspinall (12-3 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time in twelve months, this after suffering a knee injury in his most previous effort against Curtis Blaydes. That disappointing setback snapped the Manchester native’s eight-fight winning streak, which included five wins inside of the Octagon.

Bassil Hafez knew he was getting close to the UFC and was expecting something short notice to come up. Hafez was the reigning Fury FC welterweight champion and was coming off a knockout win over Evan Cutts to win the belt back in February. Since then, he had been training and when he got the call to step up on short notice at UFC Vegas 77 against Jack Della Maddalena, he jumped on it.

Colby Covington has a reason for why he hasn’t fought since March of 2022. Covington last fought back at UFC 272 when he defeated Jorge Masvidal by decision. Since then, ‘Chaos’ claims he has been trying to get a fight but no one has wanted to fight him, which is why he has been off for over a year and a half. However, according to Covington, he says he was offered both Dustin Poirier and Khamzat Chimaev but they both turned him down.
Former UFC champion Rampage Jackson in talks to face former Ultimate Fighter foe in return

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rampage Jackson is again targeting Darill Schoonover. The former titleholder was last seen at Bellator 237 against Fedor Emelianenko. In the December 2019 bout, Rampage Jackson suffered a first-round knockout loss. That fight was the last on his Bellator contract, and the promotion declined to re-sign him after the defeat.

Former interim UFC featherweight title challenger Josh Emmett plans to make his next fight his last. ‘The Fighting Falmer’ has been out of the cage since a clash with Ilia Topuria last month at UFC Jacksonville. ‘El Matador’ entered the matchup calling for a title shot against Alexander Volkanovski, and he fought like it. In the end, Ilia Topuria turned in a historic win last month against the longtime contender.

Following his win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290, Dricus du Plessis was confronted by Israel Adesanya in the Octagon. The encounter featured plenty of slurs coming from Adesanya, some of them being of a racial nature. It seemed as if du Plessis wasn’t too interested in engaging with the champion, preferring to wait until he gets in the cage with him again before letting his fists do the talking.

Chris Duncan is ready to fight back in London. Duncan hails from Scotland and got to make his UFC debut last March at UFC 286, where he picked up a split decision win over Omar Morales. It was a frustrating fight for Duncan as he wants to be known as an exciting fighter, but he’s happy he got the win and is able to return rather quickly.

Leon Edwards will be returning to the Octagon in November. UFC president Dana White told TNT Sports Adam Catterall that the promotion is working on Edwards vs. Colby Covington to serve as the co-headliner of UFC 295. The event is set to take place on November 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York with Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic heavyweight title fight serving as the main event.

Adesanya took to social media to announce that Dricus Du Plessis won’t be able to fight him at UFC 293 in Australia on September 9. He also claimed Strickland would be stepping in, but the American says in order for him to face Adesanya in September he needs to be paid accordingly.

ONE Championship is headed back to America for a packed 2024 schedule. The Asia-based company has made massive strides over the last year. In May, the promotion headed to Colorado for its first event inside the United States. Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has reflected on his loss to Dricus du Plessis. ‘The Reaper’ returned to the octagon earlier this month at UFC 290. There, he faced Dricus du Plessis in a middleweight title eliminator. Sitting cage-side was middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who was vocal about wanting to face ‘Stillknocks’ next. Luckily for ‘The Last Stylebender’, he got his wish.
