UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has teased the idea of moving all the way up to middleweight. Last night, Islam Makhachev became the most decorated lightweight in UFC history. He did so by successfully defending his belt for a fourth time, submitting Renato Moicano in what proved to be a dominant performance.

UFC star Umar Nurmagomedov has revealed the broken hand he apparently suffered at UFC 311 last night. In the co-main event of UFC 311, Umar Nurmagomedov challenged Merab Dvalishvili for the UFC bantamweight championship. It proved to be a competitive, back and forth affair, and in the end, Dvalishvili got the decision win and retained the belt. In the immediate aftermath, Umar made it clear that he didn’t believe he lost the fight – and also suggested that he broke his hand early on in the contest.

The Octagon returned to Inglewood for tonight’s UFC 311 pay-per-view event, and four fighters wound up taking home performance bonuses. The event was headlined by a lightweight title fight featuring Islam Makhachev taking on Renato Moicano. The bout proved to be a short night for reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. After being stung by a good combination in the early moments of the contest, Islam quickly secured a takedown and proceeded to lock in a fight-ending d’arce choke (see that here). With the win, Makhachev now holds the record for most title defenses at lightweight (4), surpassing BJ Penn and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Tonight’s UFC 311 pay-per-view event was headlined by a lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Renato Moicano. Makhachev (27-1 MMA) was be looking to earn his fourth consecutive title defense this evening in California. The Russian standout was coming off stoppage wins over Dustin Poirier and Alexander Volkanovski in his most previous Octagon appearances.

Tonight’s UFC 311 pay-per-view event was co-headlined by a men’s bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov (18-1 MMA) had entered his first career title fight sporting a perfect professional record. The ‘Young Eagle’ had most previously competed this past August, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over perennial contender Cory Sandhagen.

UFC star Beneil Dariush has revealed that the promotion made up for the fact that he won’t be fighting at UFC 311. In his last two fights, Beneil Dariush has suffered big setbacks in finish losses to Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan. However, a showdown with Renato Moicano at UFC 311 was set to provide him with a chance to get back on the winning trail.

In a dramatic turn of events, he will square off against Islam Makhachev with the UFC lightweight championship being on the line. Of course, this wasn’t the fight he was expecting, but it’s certainly not one he’s going to turn down.

Jiri Prochazka is a massive fan favorite within the context of mixed martial arts. That, in truth, is probably a bit of an understatement. He has put on some incredible performances since arriving in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and he’s been doing it for a long time before that too.

Makhachev was supposed to headline the card against Arman Tsarukyan, but on Friday, the challenger was forced out of the bout and Moicano stepped in. Now, ahead of the fight, oddsmakers released odds for the bout which has Makhachev as a sizeable favorite.

Leon Edwards will meet Jack Della Maddalena in the main event of UFC London in March. ‘Rocky’ hasn’t been seen in the octagon since his rematch with Belal Muhammad in July. Despite entering the UFC 304 main event as a heavy favorite, Leon Edwards was largely dominated in Manchester. The challenger outstruck the champion on the feet, also scoring several takedowns en route to a unanimous decision win.

Ahead of his Misfits Boxing debut, Darren Till is still interested in a UFC comeback. ‘The Gorilla’ hasn’t been seen in action since a second-round stoppage win over Mohammad Mutie last July. That exhibition bout was Darren Till’s first, since parting ways with the UFC. Following a third-round submission loss to Dricus du Plessis in late 2022, the British star requested his release from the company.

Islam Makhachev has released a statement following UFC 311’s main event shakeup. The Russian is set to return to the octagon in tomorrow night’s main event in Las Vegas. Back for the first time since scoring a submission win over Dustin Poirier last June, Islam Makhachev was set to meet Arman Tsarukyan. The UFC lightweight champion famously defeated the Armenian by unanimous decision in St. Petersburg back in 2019.
