Derrick Lewis revealed he entered his last fight against Jailton Almedia with a serious injury. Lewis stepped up to headline UFC Sao Paulo against Almeida and he lost a lackluster decision. Almedia was able to take him down at will as he scored six takedowns and controlled the fight for over 21 minutes on the ground.

Derrick Lewis didn’t want to comment on his recent for reckless driving arrest. On Tuesday, it was revealed by ABC13 out of Houston, that Lewis was arrested on October 25th as court records show he was driving 136 mph in a 50 mph zone in a red Lamborghini. Lewis allegedly passed a member of law enforcement on the highway, who stated that he was weaving in and out of traffic, leading to the arrest. However, the UFC heavyweight contender was left off with a $100 personal recognizance bond, and his next court date is set for late December.

On Monday, it was reported that Curtis Blaydes was out of his scheduled main event fight against Jailton Almeida at UFC Sao Paulo due to injury. However, Ag.Fight revealed that Derrick Lewis has agreed to step up to face the Brazilian in the main event spot on Nov. 4 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Derrick Lewis will remain a UFC heavyweight. At UFC 291, Lewis returned to the win column with a 33-second TKO win over Marcos Rogerio de Lima. He immediately landed a flying knee that dropped the Brazilian and then finished him off with ground-and-pound shots.
