UFC President Dana White continues to push for a showdown between Jon Jones and Tyson Fury. Jones is the UFC Heavyweight Champion, while Fury is the WBC Heavyweight Champion. Of course, Jones is a renowned mixed martial artist, while Fury is an elite boxer. The two recently went back and forth on social media, which stemmed from Joe Rogan claiming Fury wouldn’t make it out of a room if he was locked in with Jon Jones.

Fury last competed in December, in a trilogy bout against Derek Chisora. In that outing, the British star scored his third, and likely final, lopsided win over ‘Del Boy’. This time, defeating the contender by tenth-round stoppage.

Tyson Fury may not be fighting Demsey McKean after all. Earlier this week it was reported that Fury was in talks to return in August in Australia against McKean. The fight was a bit of a disappointment for boxing fans as many had hoped Fury’s next fight would be against Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua.

The winner of a proposed battle between the two heavyweights will crown the first undisputed champion in the division’s history since Lennox Lewis.

This was sparked when Fury, the WBC heavyweight titleholder, slammed UFC color commentator Joe Rogan. Fury’s beef stemmed from an episode of Rogan’s podcast. Rogan claimed if Fury and Jones were locked in a room and had to fight to get out, Fury wouldn’t have a chance of making it out.

He put the WBC Heavyweight Championship on the line against Derek Chisora. Fury won the title fight via 10th-round TKO. The booking of the fight was widely panned, as most agreed that Chisora had no business being in a world title bout.

Given the British star’s colorful and boisterous personality, he naturally didn’t take the comments well.

The two haven’t minced words ahead of their collision, with Fury saying that Paul will never box again after this match. “I’m going to be angry, I’m going to be frustrated at Jake Paul, he can’t fight,” Fury said to Top Rank. “I’m here on a paid vacation and if I’m worried about Jake Paul then I want to forget about winning a world title. That isn’t the case here, we are here super relaxed, on weight, and ready to go… When I’m done, this guy will never box again. If I have any dreams of winning a world title, I’m not fazed by Jake Paul and you will see that Sunday night.”
