After being called out by Mike Perry, UFC welterweight contender-turned-analyst Alan Jouban hinted at his retirement. Jouban was one of the many fighters that Perry called out in a series of social media posts. In response to the tweet, Jouban politely declined Perry’s callout, but not because he isn’t interested in the challenge. Instead, it’s because he might be retiring from MMA. UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem issued a statement following his TKO loss on Saturday night to Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 18. Overeem suffered a brutal second-round TKO defeat at the hands of Volkov, who had arguably the best performance of his career to date as he systematically decimated Overeem with pin-point accurate striking and unbelievable power. For Overeem, this loss snapped a two-fight winning streak for the veteran, and it puts into question whether or not “one final run” at the UFC heavyweight title is even possible at this point. Had Overeem won this fight, another run for the belt would have been realistic. But after suffering such a brutal loss at age 40, you have to wonder about his future.

Perry is a newfound father and has been enjoying getting his feet wet into parenthood as of late, but he makes his living as a prizefighter and will likely jump back into the Octagon in the coming months. And despite losing a decision to Tim Means in his last fight and dropping three of his last four overall, “Platinum” still has his sights set high.

UFC lightweight contender Beneil Dariush apologized to UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby for his post-fight tirade following his win at UFC Vegas 18. Dariush defeated Diego Ferreira via a controversial split decision in a tremendous back-and-forth bout that won each man 50k each for “Fight of the Night.” It was a fantastic fight that saw both men show off their striking and grappling skills, but Dariush appeared to have the advantage and managed to sneak out with the split decision nod.

UFC flyweight contender Brandon Royval took to social media to reveal that someone broke into his house and left behind their shoes in it. Royval is one of the top flyweight fighters in the UFC and overall has a 2-1 record inside the Octagon since making his promotional debut in 2020. While Royval is used to dealing with danger inside the cage, having it happen inside the comfort of his own home wasn’t expected. So it was a big surprise when Royval took to his social media on Saturday and revealed to his fans that an intruder had broken into his home, leaving his shoes inside his house. Former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez believes that Dustin Poirier’s short sprints were the key that caused Conor McGregor to “panic” at UFC 257. Alvarez is the right guy to ask when it comes to McGregor and Poirier, considering he’s been in the Octagon with those two on three occasions. Alvarez, who is a member of the ONE Championship roster these days, is a huge MMA fan and despite not being in the UFC any longer, he’s always offering his analysis of the fights. One of those fights was the UFC 257 main event between Poirier and McGregor, which Poirier won by second-round knockout. Speaking to MMAjunkie.com, Alvarez gave his thoughts on the matchup and explained what Poirier did in the fight to pick up the upset knockout win.

UFC lightweight contender Kevin Lee went to bat for former opponent Charles Oliveira, suggesting the Brazilian quit being denied a title shot. Oliveira is currently riding an eight-fight win streak which is second in the UFC lightweight division behind only champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. With the champ likely set to retire and vacate his belt any day now, there has been much talk about who would be the two fighters in a vacant title fight. While originally it seemed like Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier was the fight to make, in recent days it feels like Oliveira has somehow become an afterthought at 155lbs despite his incredible dominance.

UFC president Dana White reacted to Cory Sandhagen knocking out Frankie Edgar with a flying knee in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 18. With a potential UFC bantamweight title shot on the line, Sandhagen needed to make a good impression with White and the UFC matchmakers watching intently. He did just that and more when he landed an incredible flying knee right to the chin of Edgar, knocking him out cold. It was one of the best knockouts of the year thus far, and it could be just what the doctor ordered for Sandhagen to get his title shot, as White was impressed by the finish. Cory Sandhagen sent a warning to his former opponent Aljamain Sterling shortly following his stunning knockout victory over Frankie Edgar this evening. Sandhagen and Edgar squared off in a pivotal bout for the promotions stacked bantamweight division at tonight’s UFC Vegas 18 event. The winner of the fight would be positioned nicely for the next crack at the 135-pound title.

The Octagon returned to Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 18 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Alistair Overeem vs. Alexander Volkov. The highly anticipated heavyweight bout proved to be a one sided affair. Alexander Volkov was able to pepper Alistair Overeem with strikes right from the opening bell. By round two, ‘The Reem’ was a bloody mess and further combinations from ‘Drago’ only made him worse for wear. Volkov eventually connected with a massive punch that put ‘The Reem’ down for good.

Edgar and Sandhagen collided in a pivotal bout for the promotions bantamweight division, with the winner likely earning a future title shot against the winner of Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling.

Alvarez and Chandler have a storied history having competed for the Bellator lightweight world title on two occasions. Their first encounter occurred at Bellator 58 in November of 2011 where Chandler dethroned Alvarez with a fourth round submission.
