UFC bantamweight Cory Sandhagen has revealed that he’s open to a showdown with Umar Nurmagomedov. Last summer, Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov were set to meet in the Octagon. However, due to injury, Umar was forced to withdraw, with Rob Font taking his place. Sanhdagen was able to extend his win streak to three, whereas Nurmagomedov returned this past weekend. He was able to defeat Bekzat Almakhan, stretching his unbeaten record to 17-0 in the process.

Last night, UFC president Dana White announced that Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera will battle it out over the UFC bantamweight championship at UFC 299. While many are excited about their rematch, others wonder whether or not Vera has earned the right to get such a fight. While he did beat Pedro Munhoz in his last outing, it wasn’t overly convincing, and he lost fairly convincingly to Cory Sandhagen prior to that.

On Saturday night in the main event of UFC Nashville, Cory Sandhagen defeated Rob Font via unanimous decision. It was a dominant performance and win, but it wasn’t particularly exciting. A lot of fans and pundits criticized Sandhagen, but the contender did eventually note that he was suffering from a torn tricep and a bicep injury.
