Former Glory Kickboxing champ Alex Pereira made his highly anticipated Octagon debut against Andreas Michailidis at tonight’s UFC 268 event. During his storied kickboxing past, Pereira scored two victories over reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, the second of which was a nasty KO.

It did not take longer for Conor McGregor to react after fellow Irishman Ian Garry scored a first round knockout win in his Octagon debut at UFC 268. Garry (8-0 MMA), also known as ‘The Future’, squared off with Jordan Williams (9-6 MMA) in a welterweight bout on tonight’s preliminary card at Madison Square Garden.

Canelo Alvarez explains why a boxing match with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman “doesn’t make sense” for his legacy. Alvarez (56-1-2) puts his WBA, WBC, WBO and The Ring champion titles on the line against IBF champion Caleb Plant (21-0) this evening in Las Vegas. The winner of the contest will become the first undisputed super middleweight champion in boxing history.

Zhang Weili is looking to make a statement when she squares off with Rose Namajunas for a second time in tonight’s UFC 268 co-main event. Zhang (21-2 MMA) and Namajunas (10-4 MMA) originally collided back at April’s UFC 261 event, with ‘Thug Rose’ emerging victorious by way of first round knockout.

Dana White believes fight fans will get to see Khamzat Chimaev compete for a UFC title eventually, but it won’t be in his next fight. Chimaev (10-0 MMA) made his highly anticipated return to the Octagon at last weekend’s UFC 267 event in Abu Dhabi for a welterweight bout with Li Jingliang. The contest was Khamzat’s first since September of 2020, where he had scored a sensational 18-second knockout win over Gerald Meerschaert (see that here).

Conor McGregor has lashed out at Islam Makhachev after discovering one of his old tweets from 2015. Just prior to McGregor’s interim featherweight title fight with Chad Mendes at UFC 189, Makhachev took to Twitter with the following statement “I can’t imagine that after all his talk, Conor loses”.

Bellator is back in Dublin, Ireland for Bellator 270 and in the co-main event, a bantamweight grudge match between James Gallagher and Patchy Mix goes down. James Gallagher (11-1) is riding a four-fight winning streak but this will be his first fight with James Krause as his head coach. He last fought back in October of 2020 as he submitted Cal Ellenor. He’s currently ranked sixth in Bellator‘s bantamweight rankings.

Daniel Cormier fires back against accusations of bias in UFC commentary booth

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier fired back against accusations of him having bias while working in the UFC commentary booth. Cormier was publicly criticized by Justin Gaethje recently for being biased during his call of the recent Islam Makhachev vs. Dan Hooker fight. Speaking on the Debate DC on Vover podcast, Cormier responded to the recent criticisms towards his calls inside the booth. As far as the former UFC champion is concerned, he thinks the notion of him being biased is ridiculous and he doesn’t agree with it.
Nate Diaz has a target for his final fight with the UFC

UFC welterweight fan-favorite Nate Diaz appears to be targeting the winner of UFC 268’s main event between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. Diaz appears to be very interested in Saturday’s main event between Usman and Covington. Taking to his social media on Friday, Diaz posted a photo of the UFC welterweight champion and his rival during the staredown. On top of the two fighters, Diaz posted a picture of a target along with a dart hitting the bullseye in the center of it.
Ode Osbourne quit job and moved to Las Vegas to train full-time ahead of UFC 268

Ode Osbourne made a significant change in his career after he lost to Manel Kape at UFC 265 in August. Osbourne suffered a first-round flying knee TKO loss, but many thought it was an early stoppage. The loss put him to 1-2 in the UFC and now ahead of UFC 268, which could be do-or-die for him, Osbourne quit his job to move to Las Vegas full-time to train at Syndicate MMA.

Pound-for-pound boxing great Canelo Alvarez responded to the recent boxing challenge put up by UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Alvarez steps back into the boxing ring on Saturday night when he takes on Caleb Plant in a fight that takes place in Las Vegas. On the other side of the country, Usman defends his UFC welterweight title when he takes on his archrival Colby Covington. Should Usman defeat Covington, and the betting odds indicate that he should be a big favorite to get his hand raised in this fight, then expect him to continue chasing a superfight in boxing with Alvarez, especially if he goes out there on Saturday night and finishes Plant in boxing.

Colby Covington believes that poor instructions from his former ATT cornermen contributed to his loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 245. Covington lost via fifth-round TKO to Usman the first time these two welterweight rivals met inside the Octagon at UFC 245. In that fight, the two archrivals went back-and-forth for nearly the full 25 minutes until Usman dropped Covington late in the fifth round and referee Marc Goddard stopped the fight. In the two years since then, Covington has done everything in his power in order to convince the UFC to give him the rematch, and they finally caved in and gave it to him. This Saturday at UFC 268, Covington gets to step into the Octagon for the second time when he takes on Usman for the welterweight title.

UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje explained why he has issues with the “incredibly biased” UFC commentator Daniel Cormier. Gaethje took to social media last Saturday during the main event of UFC 267 to vent his frustrations with Cormier, who was providing color commentary for the UFC in Abu Dhabi. As far as Gaethje goes, Cormier was biased with his commentary during the Islam Makhachev vs. Dan Hooker fight, and “The Highlight” made sure to let DC know that’s how he felt about him as he took to his Twitter to talk some smack to the former UFC champion.

This weekend at UFC 268, Rose Namajunas will attempt to cement her position as the best strawweight in the world when she defends her UFC title against Zhang Weili. It comes just months after Namajunas knocked Weili out with a head kick, winning the belt in the process.

Over the course of the last few weeks there’s been a lot of debate about what it means to be elite in women’s MMA and who qualifies. In many instances, the UFC is home to the world’s greatest female fighters – but the likes of Kayla Harrison and Cris Cyborg serve as an exception to that.
