At the UFC 292 post-fight press conference earlier this month, Dana White stated that Ronda Rousey wasn’t planning a comeback. However, his comments were quickly trampled by a report that the former champion could return at UFC 300.

Sean O’Malley is siding with Aljamain Sterling and Merab Dvalishvili as he says he wouldn’t want to fight a teammate either. As Sterling was the bantamweight champion, he and Dvalishvili both made it clear that the two would never fight one another, which UFC President Dana White wasn’t too thrilled about. Then, after Sean O’Malley knocked out Sterling to become the bantamweight champion, Dvalishvili said he would wait over a year for the title shot as he wanted Sterling to get the rematch first.

It was Sean O’Malley (17-1 MMA) vs Aljamain Sterling (23-4 MMA) in the main event on Saturday, August 19th at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The result was a knockout loss for Sterling at 0:51 of round 2. ‘Suga’ was crowned the new bantamweight champion in perhaps what was the best performance of his career.

The bout was Chris Weidman’s first in over two years, last suffering a loss to Uriah Hall in April 2021. Infamously, the former champion broke his leg seconds into the bout against ‘Prime Time’.

The setback marked the second time he failed on his bid to become the undisputed champion.
