Israel Adesanya has responded to the callout he received from newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Pereira (9-2 MMA) squared off with former light heavyweight champion Jiri Procházka (29-4-1 MMA) for the promotion’s vacant 205lbs title in the headliner of tonight’s UFC 295 event at Madison Square Garden.

The Octagon returned to Madison Square Garden for tonight’s UFC 295 event, a thirteen-bout fight card headlined by Jiri Procházka vs. Alex Pereira. The highly anticipated light heavyweight title fight proved to be the thrilling back and forth affair that most fight fans were hoping for. Alex Pereira got off to a strong start thanks to some heavy low kicks, but Jiri Procházka was able to score a takedown midway through the opening round and was able to control the Brazilian from the position. Then, in round two, Procházka appeared to hurt Pereira with a big flurry. However, ‘Poatan’ found a home for his classic left hook which quickly turned the tide. After landing some heavy elbows to the head, Pereira sent Jiri crashing to the floor. The referee quickly stepped in and called a stop to the action.

Frevola (11-3-1 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since scoring a first-round TKO victory over Drew Dober at May’s UFC 288 event in New Jersey. The win marked ‘The Steamrolla’s’ third in a row as he had previously scored knockout wins over Genaro Valdez and Ottman Azaitar. The 33-year-old has gone 5-3-1 inside of the Octagon since joining the UFC ranks in Janury of 2018.

Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov has failed a drug test. Multiple sources informed BJPENN.com that Nurmagomedov tested positive for an unknown substance and his fight against Brent Primus has been overturned to a No Contest. As well, sources informed BJPENN.com that Primus will now go forward in the Bellator lightweight grand prix, while the belief is Usman Nurmagomedov will be stripped of the lightweight title. Nurmagomedov has also been handed a six month suspension.

Gamebred FC 6 took place this evening in Biloxi, Mississippi, with a heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Alan Belcher headlining the card. Nelson and Belcher were squaring off for the promotion‘s inaugural Bareknuckle MMA heavyweight championship.

It was just yesterday that UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland took to social media where he dubbed women’s MMA as being lame while citing some recent comments made by Paige VanZant.

Castaneda is coming off a decision win over Muin Gafurov back in June and after the win, he knew he wanted to fight one more time this year. He ended up getting the chance to face Kyung Ho Kang on Nov. 18, but after agreeing to the fight, it ended up getting moved to Nov. 11 at UFC 295.

For both men, the fight will be an important one, as it will be Colby Covington’s first since last March. Meanwhile, Leon Edwards is coming off a decision win over Kamaru Usman in March, his first title defense.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski believes he’s the right man to humble Ilia Topuria. ‘The Great’ has been out of action since a short-notice rematch with Islam Makhachev last month. The lightweight champion was first expected to face Charles Oliveira, but ‘Do Bronx’ withdrew due to injury. As a result, Alexander Volkanovski stepped up on two weeks notice.
