Dana White has announced a few key fights scheduled for the UFC 299 card. UFC 299 is scheduled to be held inside the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on March 9, 2024. The event will be headlined by a UFC Bantamweight Championship fight between titleholder Sean O’Malley and Marlon “Chito” Vera. Also set for the card is a heavyweight tilt between Jailton Almeida and Curtis Blaydes, and a lightweight clash between Mateusz Gamrot and Rafael dos Anjos.

Bryce Mitchell has spoken out on his UFC 296 loss against Josh Emmett at UFC 296. Mitchell took on Emmett on the main card of the UFC’s final event of 2023. This was supposed to be a preliminary bout, but with the removal of Ian Garry vs. Vicente Luque, the Mitchell vs. Emmett fight received a promotion. Mitchell was on the wrong end of a one-punch knockout in the opening frame. There was some concern for Mitchell, who appeared to be convulsing when he was unconscious, but the good news is he seems to be doing well in the aftermath.

Middleweight champion Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis have issued statements on their UFC 296 crowd brawl. Strickland and Du Plessis got quite heated during a press conference hyping up UFC’s upcoming fights for 2024. With things getting personal between the two, it leaves one to wonder why the two were seated close to each other during UFC 296. Of course, bad things ensued and UFC COO Dana White told reporters that he blames himself for the seating assignment flub.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC 296 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington. The highly anticipated welterweight title fight proved to be a one-sided contest. Leon Edwards was able to dominate Colby Covington on the feet and even took the former interim champion down on two occasions. ‘Chaos’ had little to no success in the opening twenty minutes, but finally found some offense in the fifth and final round. However, it was far too little, far too late, and Edwards was awarded a lopsided unanimous decision victory.

His most previous effort had of course resulted in a submission win over Geoff Neal at UFC 285.

As a result, he was on the sidelines for a long time, dealing with setback after setback. Surgery, after surgery.

The bout would’ve been the first for the Irishman since an August victory over Neil Magny. Sadly for Ian Garry, his fight with the Brazilian is now off due to suffering a bout of illness.

Chael Sonnen is slamming Ian Machado Garry over his UFC 296 withdrawal. It was to be the undefeated Garry (13-0 MMA) versus Vicente Luque (22-9 MMA) in a welterweight bout this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Garry withdrew earlier this week citing a bout with pneumonia.
