Colby Covington has released footage of his conversation with Chael Sonnen following his loss at UFC Tampa. ‘Chaos’ returned over the weekend in the Sunshine State. Back for the first time since a unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards last December, Colby Covington faced the fastly rising Joaquin Buckley. The former interim welterweight champion took the fight on short notice, stepping in after Ian Machado Garry was pulled to face Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310.

UFC Hall of Famer Cub Swanson might be done fighting for good. The fan favorite known simply as ‘Killer Cub’ returned to the octagon on Saturday night at UFC Tampa. Back for the first time since a controversial decision loss to Andre Fili in June, Cub Swanson faced Billy Quarantillo. A fellow action fighter in his own right, ‘Billy Q’ entered the bout after a submission loss to Youssef Zalal in March.

Chael Sonnen was going to end the UFC Tampa main event had the doctor not. Just seconds before the end of the third round, the doctor got called in to look at a nasty cut above Covington’s eye. The doctor ended up stopping the fight which Dana White didn’t think would have happened had the fight been in Las Vegas. However, Covington’s new coach, Sonnen said he saw how bad the cut was and was about to throw in the towel.

Jan Blachowicz doesn’t believe Magomed Ankalaev has shown anything that leads him to believe he can dethrone Alex Pereira. Pereira is the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion. It’s become clear that Ankalaev has done enough to be his next title challenger, as he’s gone 11-0-1. 1 NC in his last 13 fights. The title fight has not been made official at this time.

Colby Covington has spoken out following his TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa. Covington and Buckley shared the Octagon inside the Amalie Arena this past Saturday night. This was the final UFC fight of 2024. Buckley’s standup proved to be a major issue for Covington. “New Mansa” opened up a cut on Covington’s eyelid that got worse as the fight went on.

The bout was initially marred by fouls from da Silva, but Kape was able to overcome the low blows and scored a scintillating third-round TKO finish. Kape barked at UFC CEO Dana White, pounding the table for a shot at Alexandre Pantoja for the UFC Flyweight Championship.

Dana White and the UFC brass on working on something for Dustin Poirier as “The Diamond” nears the end of his prizefighting career. Poirier has been hinting at his next fight being his last, as the soon-to-be 36-year-old isn’t interested in climbing back up the 155-pound ladder in hopes of securing a final title opportunity. In all likelihood, Poirier had his last UFC championship bout against Islam Makhachev back in June. “The Diamond” was submitted in the fifth round despite a hard-fought effort.

In the final UFC event of 2024, Buckley took on former interim UFC welterweight titleholder Colby Covington. The fight headlined UFC Tampa inside Amalie Arena. Buckley allowed his standup to shine thanks to his solid takedown defense. Covington struggled to deal with the striking skills of “New Mansa” despite having a sturdy chin.
