The Octagon returns to Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 102 event, a 12-bout fight card headlined by Jared Cannonier vs. Gregory Rodrigues. Cannonier (17-8 MMA) will enter tonight’s bout with hopes of snapping a two-fight losing skid. ‘The Killa Gorilla’ is coming off back-to-back losses against Caio Borralho and Nassourdine Imavov respectively. Prior to those setbacks, Cannonier had scored wins over Sean Strickland and Marvin Vettori.

Vince Morales was eager to get a full camp and prove to everyone just how good he is. Morales returned to the UFC in Paris last September against Taylor Lapilus on short notice and he lost a decision. After the fight, Morales and his team realized they needed to start taking fights with a full camp which they will get here against Elijah Smith at UFC Vegas 102.

Former UFC title challenger Jorge Masvidal seemingly wants to enter the political arena. ‘Gamebred’ hasn’t been seen in action since his boxing match with Nate Diaz in July. That bout was a rematch of their prior meeting at UFC 244 in 2019, which saw Jorge Masvidal win by fourth-round stoppage. However, Diaz flipped the script in the boxing ring, scoring a majority decision win over the Miami native.

UFC light-heavyweight contender Anthony Smith has given his side of the beef with Rampage Jackson. ‘Lionheart’ made headlines earlier this week by voicing frustrations with the former UFC champion’s podcast. Speaking on his own podcast, Anthony Smith took issue with Rampage Jackson’s habit of making fun of fighters behind their back, while being nice to their face. That led to a lengthy rant from the 46-year-old, who threatened to slap Smith next time he sees him.

Chael Sonnen is coming to the defense of Sean Strickland’s head coach Eric Nicksick. Nicksick surprised many within the MMA community with some brutal honesty on his working relationship with Strickland. Nicksick made the comments during his appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show.” On the program, Nicksick said that his job is to train world champions. He was adamant that Strickland needs to decide what he wants to do going forward. This was after Strickland suffered a one-sided loss to Dricus du Plessis in their UFC 312 rematch.

Henry Cejudo is hoping to capture UFC gold one more time. Cejudo is no stranger to climbing the mountain top in MMA. He ended the legendary UFC flyweight title run of Demetrious Johnson before moving up in weight to challenge for the 135-pound hardware. Cejudo ended up stopping TJ Dillashaw to become a double UFC champion.

Merab Dvalishvili has two possible challengers in mind for his UFC Bantamweight Championship. Dvalishvili is riding high following his impressive performance against Umar Nurmagomedov in the co-main event of UFC 311. The Georgian titleholder was able to thwart his opponent’s grappling efforts and managed to outwork him for a unanimous decision victory. It was the first successful title defense for Dvalishvili and now he is looking ahead.

Holloway entered the bout after his knockout win over Justin Gaethje in April, hoping to win the featherweight title for the second time.
