The UFC was in Mexico City, Mexico, on Saturday, March 29, for UFC Mexico City. The main event saw flyweight contenders throw down as Brandon Moreno took on Steve Erceg. Moreno was coming off a decision win over Amir Albazi. Erceg, meanwhile, lost back-to-back fights after being knocked out by Kai Kara-France and losing a decision to Alexandre Pantoja for the belt.

Mike Perry is currently in talks for an April fight with Dillon Danis in Misfits MMA. ‘El Jefe’ was set to return to the boxing ring earlier this month under the Misfits Boxing banner. Dillon Danis hasn’t been seen in action since his loss to Logan Paul in late 2023, but he accepted a short-notice bout against KSI. ‘The Nightmare’ was initially set to face footballer Wayne Bridge, but the bout was canceled after the 44-year-old withdrew. For his part, KSI withdrew from the bout earlier this month due to illness.

Former UFC title challenger Jorge Masvidal wants to fight Colby Covington again. It’s not exactly a secret that ‘Gamebred’ is currently preparing for his return to the cage. Last appearing in the octagon in early 2023, Jorge Masvidal retired following a unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns. However, after suffering a loss in the boxing match against Nate Diaz last summer, the welterweight set his sights on a return to the UFC.

Earlier this month, he announced plans to form a boxing league with UFC CEO Dana White.

He ended up signing a lucrative contract with Bellator MMA and made the most of the opportunity. He officiated the Manuel Torres vs. Drew Dober bout, which ended in a first-round TKO finish for Torres.

One former UFC fighter has decided to hang up his gloves. MMA fans have seen a bevy of athletes retire as of late. The likes of Molly McCann, Antonina Shevchenko, and Jalin Turner have made the decision to leave pro MMA competition within the span of a few weeks. McCann admitted that her performances simply weren’t good enough in a sport that continues getting young, while Turner said the lifestyle of being a fighter is taking its toll. Shevchenko hadn’t fought since a 2022 win over Cortney Casey and has left the sport to fulfill her piloting duties.

Torres had a stellar showing this past Saturday, defeating seasoned veteran Drew Dober in the opening frame via TKO. Torres delivered a series of hard punches to the head of his opponent. Beltran stopped the fight, but some believe he was too late in calling a halt to the bout.

Joe Pyfer has found himself in hot water after blaming Mexico City for pulling out of a planned matchup against Kelvin Gastelum. Pyfer and Gastelum were set to collide on the main card of UFC Mexico City. Plans went south when “Bodybagz” fell ill before fight night. It would’ve been a big opportunity for Pyfer to go up against the biggest name he’s faced yet, but it wasn’t meant to be on March 29.

Patricio “Pitbull” Freire is confident that he will prove himself to be the best featherweight in the world. Freire will finally be making his UFC debut on April 12. The former two-division Bellator champion will share the Octagon with Yair Rodriguez on the main card of UFC 314 in Miami. It’s been a long time coming for the 37-year-old, who has garnered Hall of Fame worthy accolades during his time in Bellator.

One UFC legend isn’t keen on Alex Pereira accepting an immediate rematch against Magomed Ankalaev. Pereira lost the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship to Ankalaev in the main event of UFC 313 in March. “Poatan” was defeated via unanimous decision. The story of the fight was that Ankalaev was the aggressor, forcing Pereira to fight backwards, which limited the effectiveness of his striking.

He went one-on-one with No. 8-ranked UFC flyweight Steve Erceg. This was a competitive scrap that went the distance. Moreno was awarded the unanimous decision victory.
