UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski has shared some high praise for his upcoming opponent Yair Rodriguez. Volkanovski is set to defend his featherweight title in the main event of UFC 290 – in his first fight since losing to Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title. Although Volkanovski is a sizeable betting favorite, he believes Rodriguez is a more dangerous fight than Makhachev and any other opponent he has faced.

Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has his eyes on UFC 289. ‘The Great’ has been out of action since his journey up to lightweight earlier this year. At UFC 284, the featherweight champion went up to face lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev. The two champions put on a show in the main event, with the Russian retaining his title by unanimous decision.

Earlier this year, Paul stated that he planned to box Nate Diaz, but wound up losing out on the bout to his brother. ‘The Problem Child’ is now slated to face the Stockton native on DAZN pay-per-view in August.

Alex Volkanovski is none too pleased with two of the judges who scored the UFC Vegas 74 headliner. This past Saturday night, Amir Albazi and Kai Kara-France did battle inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both men put on a show for all five rounds, but the conclusion of UFC Vegas 74 left a sour taste in the mouths of fans.

Alexander Volkanovski believes that Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira will compete against one another again in the future. Throughout the course of their rivalry, Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira have fought each other four times. The first two meetings came in kickboxing, and the third in mixed martial arts. While Pereira raced out to a 3-0 lead, Adesanya got a measure of revenge by knocking ‘Poatan’ out earlier this year, reclaiming the UFC middleweight championship in the process.

Since then, the pair have met a further twice, with the Australian edging a split decision at UFC 251 and then putting on a clinic at UFC 276 to go (3-0) over the former champ.

In the main event, the bantamweight champion faced the returning Henry Cejudo. ‘Triple C’ had been out of the cage since a May 2020 title defense against Dominick Cruz, but was confident he could regain the bantamweight gold upon his return.

UFC 284 took place on Saturday, February 11th of this year and highlighted Alexander Volkanovski (25-2 MMA) vs. Islam Makhachev (24-1 MMA) in the lightweight main event at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.  The result was a unanimous decision win (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) for Makhachev.

In doing so, he will challenge Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight championship that he never lost.

Volkanovski jumped to 155 pounds to face the newly crowned champion, Islam Makhachev. The Russian dominated Charles Oliveira last October to win the gold but didn’t have as easy of a time with the featherweight champion.

It was just last Saturday, April 15th at UFC Kansas City that Max Holloway (24-7 MMA) defeated Arnold Allen (19-2 MMA) in the featherweight main event. It was a unanimous decision win for ‘Blessed‘, which put him back in the win column.

Heading into the contest, ‘Almighty’ is riding a 12-fight losing streak, with some massive wins in that stretch. In recent octagon appearances, the Brit captured victories over names such as Calvin Kattar, Dan Hooker, and Gilbert Melendez.

Max Holloway still thinks he is better than Alexander Volkanovski despite losing all three fights. Holloway and Volkanovski first met at UFC 245 in 2019 as the Aussie was challenging for the Hawaiian’s featherweight title. Holloway entered the fight as the betting favorite but it was Volkanovski who won a decision to become the new champ.

Just days ahead of his return, former UFC champion Max Holloway is making no excuses for his last fight. ‘Blessed’ has been out of the octagon since his co-main event spot against Alexander Volkanovski last July. While the trilogy bout was highly anticipated, Holloway entered the third fight down in the series 0-2. Granted, both of those contests were very close, and many felt the Hawaiian deserved the nod in the second bout.
