According to the Denver Post, Velasquez shot at a man who was recently charged with molesting a close relative of his. However, he apparently missed that man, and his bullet hit the defendant’s stepfather.

Valentina Shevchenko has her next flyweight title defense set. Shevchenko is booked to face Taila Santos at UFC 275 on June 11, according to MMAFighting although contracts have not been signed at this time. The event is targeted to take place in Singapore, Ariel Helwani reported on Tuesday, although no official location has been announced. The main event of the card will see Glover Teixeira defend his light heavyweight belt against Jiri Prochazka.

His loss to ‘The Diamond’ was his second in a row, and his third in his last four bouts. His sole win came at UFC 246 in January 2020, where he defeated the equally-struggling Donald Cerrone.
Islam Makhachev leapfrogs Beneil Dariush in latest UFC rankings update

Islam Makhachev has moved to #3 in the UFC lightweight rankings, behind Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier. Consequently Beneil Dariush has moved down to #4 in the overall rankings. Islam Makhachev (22-1 MMA) defeated Bobby Green (29-13) this past Saturday, February 26th via technical knockout in the first round at UFC Vegas 49. Green had accepted the last minute fight just 10 days after Beneil Dariush (21-4 MMA) withdrew due to an ankle injury. That withdrawal cost ‘Benny’ a spot in the rankings and put the Russian fighter at #3.

Renato Moicano (16-4 MMA) has verbally agreed to step in on four days’ notice to fight Rafael dos Anjoys (30-13 MMA) at UFC 272 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada this coming weekend, Saturday March 5, 2022. It was to be Rafael dos Anjoys vs Rafael Fiziev (11-1 MMA) at UFC 272 Co-main event, but Fizievs’ manager texted Ariel Helwani who confirmed the 11th-ranked lightweight was out of the bout due to testing positive for COVID-19. Rafael Fiziev then took to social media to confirm the news.

According to reports, Cain Velasquez spent Monday night, February 28th in jail. Velasquez, 39, has been arrested and booked on an attempted murder charge. Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez (14-3 MMA) is said to have been involved in a shooting which took place on Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue, near Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, California, at approximately 3pm which left one man injured.
