The UFC Kansas City weigh-ins have wrapped up, and there was a scale fail on the main card. Luckily for fight fans, headliners Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates made weight for their clash scheduled for Saturday. Garry tipped the scales at 171 pounds. Prates made championship weight at 170 pounds. Anthony Smith also clocked in for the last bout of his pro MMA career. Both he and his opponent Zhang Mingyang weighed in at 206 pounds.

UFC welterweight contender Ian Machado Garry has taken an interesting shot at welterweight veterans Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. For Ian Machado Garry, Saturday night serves as a real opportunity for him to prove that he belongs amongst the elite at 170 pounds. He plans on taking out Carlos Prates which, if you’ve seen the Brazilian fight, is going to be no easy task. It may well be the toughest bout of the Irishman’s career to date, and that’s saying something given that he’s battled Shavkat Rakhmonov – although, Shavkat was reportedly injured at least during some of that fight.

When it comes to underappreciated fighters in the world of mixed martial arts, Nicolas Dalby is up there. The Danish star, now aged 40, has achieved a lot during his time in the sport. He’s also one of the more likeable fighters out there on the roster, and even after suffering several big setbacks in his career, he’s still willing to push forward and keep on fighting.

In late 2023, it was announced that he’d be taking his passion for the sport to a new level by playing Mark Kerr in a biopic of the former UFC champion’s life.

It’s an intriguing welterweight matchup, and if the Brazilian wins, he will be closing in on a title shot. However, Prates is the betting underdog, but he doesn’t care as he’s confident he won’t just win, but will KO Garry.

Israel Adesanya waited a long time to beat Alex Pereira. As it turns out, his training camp for his long-awaited UFC win over the Brazilian included an interesting detail: psychedelic mushrooms. Adesanya finally beat Pereira at UFC 287 in 2023. It was his fourth fight with the fearsome Brazilian, and he had lost each previous encounter. Their first two fights were contested under kickboxing rules, and their third was in the UFC. Pereira won the first by decision, and the second and third with brutal knockouts.

UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev doubts that Alex Pereira wants to continue fighting. Ankalaev captured the UFC light heavyweight title with a close decision win over Pereira at UFC 313 early last month. There has been talk of a rematch between the two stars since soon after they left the cage that night. Unfortunately, the rematch is still not a done deal.

Now, at UFC 315, he looks set to defend his strap against Jack Della Maddalena in what promises to be an entertaining, competitive encounter.

But, after that, Garry says he wants to fight Makhachev as he wants to test himself against the best.
