In the main event of UFC Vegas 75, top-five middleweights collided as Marvin Vettori took on Jared Cannonier. Vettori entered the fight coming off a decision win over Roman Dolidze at UFC 286 back in March which got him back into the win column after he lost to Robert Whittaker. Cannonier, meanwhile, was coming off a main event decision win over Sean Strickland back in December.
Henry Cejudo set to return at UFC 292 in Boston against Marlon Vera

Henry Cejudo will be looking to return to the win column in August. UFC president Dana White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that Cejudo is set to return at UFC 292 in Boston against Marlon Vera. The pay-per-view fight card will take place on August 19, with the main event of the card seeing bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling taking on Sean O’Malley. Zhang Weili is also set to defend her strawweight title in the co-headliner against Amanda Lemos.

The two champions headlined UFC 284 and put on an instant classic. At the end of the five-round bout, it was Makhachev who retained the lightweight title by unanimous decision.

UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya recalls being detained in a New York City airport. Israel Adesanya put the 185-pound gold on the line against Alex Pereira at UFC 281. The title fight was held inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. Israel Adesanya suffered a fifth-round TKO loss, losing the middleweight title in the process. “The Last Stylebender” got the championship back from Pereira by scoring a brutal second-round knockout win over in their MMA rematch at UFC 287.

The highly anticipated middleweight main event proved to be a coming out party for the 39-year-old Cannonier. After being rocked early in the opening round, ‘The Killa Gorilla’ went to put on the performance of his life for the remainder of the fight. Cannonier set a new UFC middleweight record for significant strikes landed, beating down Vettori for the final four rounds of the contest. ‘The Italian Dream’ showed off his heart and incredible chin but was clearly no match for Jared Cannonier this evening.
