Following Maddalena’s title win, however, the door is now open for Makhachev to attempt double-champ status.

The clip was of the moment Silva took an elbow to the side of the head. Silva left the Octagon on a stretcher and was taken to a local hospital. The UFC broadcast noted that while Silva complained of neck issues, he was alert and was able to move his extremities.

She was able to defeat Manon Fiorot and successfully defend her UFC women’s flyweight championship, even dropping her opponent in the process. While it was a close fight, the majority of pundits and fans scored it in favor of Shevchenko, who was able to prove that she’s far from done at the elite level.

He defeated Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision to become the new UFC welterweight champion. In doing so, he proved to the world that he is truly elite, and he proved that he can hang with the best of the best at 170 pounds. Of course, as tends to be the case more often than not at this level, the attention immediately shifted to what could be next for the Australian.

He aimed to successfully defend his UFC welterweight championship for the first time, but he couldn’t quite get over the finish line. He was beaten by Jack Della Maddalena in an absolutely gruelling affair, and although he had his moments, Belal just couldn’t really get his wrestling going in the way that would’ve opened up the path to victory.

The Australian standout was able to get the better of Belal Muhammad in the striking throughout the majority of the contest, this while stuffing most of the takedowns that came his way. Even when ‘JDM’ got taken down, it never took him long to return to his feet. After a chaotic fifth and final round it was clear that Jack had done enough to hear the words he’s longer for, “And NEW!”.

Muhammad (24-4 MMA) was looking to earn his first career title defense when he took to the Octagon this evening in Montreal. ‘Remember the Name’ had of course captured the promotion’s welterweight title this past July in Manchester, scoring a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Leon Edwards. The 36-year-old had entered tonight’s title bout on a 10-fight winning streak, which includes victories over Gilbert Burns, Sean Brady and Stephen Thompson.
