Despite being winless over his last five fights, Sam Alvey has been booked for an upcoming middleweight bout against veteran Zak Cummings. Alvey and Cummings will meet in a three-round fight at a UFC Fight Night event that is set to take place on April 10. MMAjunkie.com first confirmed the bout. With Alvey entering this matchup on a five-fight winless skid, his spot on the UFC could be in jeopardy with another loss. With UFC president Dana White announcing a few months ago that the promotion is going to cut 60 fighters, many thought that Alvey could be among the cuts. However, the UFC is going to give him one more chance to win.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov praised UFC president Dana White, telling the promoter “I have so much respect for you.” Nurmagomedov is currently in a quasi-retirement. The Russian told White that he wanted to watch UFC 257 and see if anyone really made a statement on the card, but he has made no guarantee he will fight again. At this point, it’s up in the air, but signs are pointing towards him retiring for good. If that’s the case, then he’s exiting on the best possible terms. Taking to his social media following UFC 257, Nurmagomedov shared a post where he praised White and encouraged fans to give him more credit.

UFC president Dana White dropped the hammer on illegal streamers, promising that “Every event I’m going to go after one of these guys.” White and the UFC have promised to wage a war against illegal streamers who share the UFC’s events without its permission. White said this week that one of the biggest illegal streaming websites was under surveillance by the UFC, and ultimately that website did not put up the event. At the UFC 257 post-fight press conference, White further explained how they caught the streamer and pointed to what’s next.

Justin Gaethje took aim at Nate Diaz after the Stockton native called out Dustin Poirier earlier today on social media. Poirier returned to the Octagon at last night’s UFC 257 event for a highly anticipated rematch with Conor McGregor. The result was a spectacular second round TKO victory for ‘The Diamond’.

UFC women’s strawweight Joanne Calderwood issued a statement following her unanimous decision win over Jessica Eye at UFC 257. In the pre-fight to the pair’s pay-per-view main card bout at UFC 257, Calderwood promised to punch Eye in the face, and she accomplished all that and more in the fight. The Las Vegas-trained fighter took it to Eye for the full 15 minutes, punching and kicking her all over en route to a unanimous decision win. It was a big fight for Calderwood, who lost in upset fashion to Jennifer Maia in her last fight. She needed a good fight against Eye to prove her worth to the champion Valentina Shevchenko, and she did that. With the win over Eye, Calderwood is back to being a title contender.

UFC superstar Nate Diaz called out Dustin Poirier, tweeting at the lightweight star and saying to him, “I’m going to whoop your ass next.” The entire MMA world was watching UFC 257, with a blockbuster main event rematch between Poirier and Conor McGregor. After a quick start to the fight, McGregor began to have trouble walking due to brutal low kicks from Poirier, and “The Diamond” was eventually able to knock McGregor out in the second round for the biggest win of his career. The win puts Poirier in the driver’s seat to fight for the UFC lightweight title against someone in his next fight.

UFC lightweight Charles Oliveira sent a message to Dustin Poirier following his upset knockout win over Conor McGregor at UFC 257. Poirier knocked out McGregor in brutal fashion in the second round of their UFC 257 main event. The win cements Poirier’s place in the upper echelon of the UFC lightweight division and nearly guarantees that he fights for the title in his next fight. Just who he will fight, though, is anyone’s guess. UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has still not made a determination either way, but all signs are pointing to Poirier getting another dance partner next.

UFC president Dana White scolded lightweight Michael Chandler for his celebratory backflip, saying “somebody’s going to get f*cking hurt.” Following his KO win over Dan Hooker in the co-main event of UFC 257, newly-minted UFC lightweight contender Chandler did a backflip off the top of the Octagon fence, and it appeared he had hurt his ankles on the way down. Thankfully he’s fine, but it could have been potentially been really bad had he landed the wrong way, and it had White worried. Chandler is certainly not the first fighter to do a backflip to celebrate — Justin Gaethje also does it on the regular — but every time a fighter does a backflip, it leaves White wincing.

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather trashed former opponent Conor McGregor after getting knocked out at UFC 257, calling him a “bum.” McGregor was brutally knocked out in the second round of his UFC 257 main event fight with Poirier on Saturday night. After starting off strong in the first round, McGregor’s mobility was compromised in the second round from low kicks by Poirier, and he was soon stopped and finished with strikes. Since losing, we have seen a number of McGregor’s rivals like Jake Paul and Patricio Pitbull talking smack to the Irishman, and now Mayweather has joined in.

UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler released a statement following his first-round knockout win over Dan Hooker at UFC 257. Chandler is the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion who signed a big-money contract with the UFC last summer. After serving as the backup at UFC 254 this past October, Chandler finally made his official Octagon at UFC 257 on Saturday night, picking up a brutal first-round KO win over Dan Hooker. UFC superstar Conor McGregor has opened up as the betting favorite for a potential trilogy bout against rival Dustin Poirier. McGregor suffered a brutal knockout loss at the hands of Poirier at UFC 257 on Saturday night. After a strong start in the first round for the Irishman, his mobility in the second round became compromised due to Poirier landing calf kicks that really slowed him down. Poirier was then able to catch McGregor on the chin, drop him, and finish him off with strikes. After losing by knockout to McGregor back at UFC 178, Poirier returned the favor with his career-best win.

Veteran UFC fighter Nik Lentz announced his retirement from MMA following his split decision loss to Movsar Evloev at UFC 257. Lentz fought hard and nearly came up victorious, but the judges scored the fight in favor of a split decision for Evloev. The difference in the fight was the damage that Lentz received around his eyes, which he originally injured last year when he fought Arnold Allen. Lentz was really banged up in the face after the fight and he clearly took too much damage to his eyes against Evloev.

UFC women’s strawweight contender Amanda Ribas issued a statement following her vicious knockout loss to Marina Rodriguez at UFC 257. Ribas was quickly emerging as a title contender in the UFC women’s strawweight division after winning her first four fights in the Octagon, including notable wins over the likes of Mackenzie Dern and Paige VanZant. She was then matched up against a top-10 opponent in Rodriguez in the opening main card fight at UFC 257. Had Ribas defeated Rodriguez, it seems likely that the UFC would have fast-tracked the Brazilian prospect up to the title picture.

Michael Chandler issued a bold prediction for a potential title fight matchup with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Chandler knocked out Dan Hooker in the first round in what was an absolutely devastating fashion to mark a brilliant UFC debut for the former Bellator champion. Chandler came into the bout as the underdog but he proved the oddsmakers wrong when he KOed Hooker. It’s a massive win for “Iron” in his UFC debut and it’s the quality victory that could potentially earn him a title fight against Nurmagomedov if the champ decides to come out of retirement.

McGregor lost in shocking fashion to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 when he suffered a brutal second-round knockout loss. The Irishman was a big favorite heading into the fight and to see him lose in such devastating fashion was very surprising for many people, but not for Nurmagomedov. Following UFC 257, the champion took to his social media to take a shot at McGregor, criticizing the superstar for changing his camp and for letting his fame get to his head.

On Saturday night at UFC 257, Dustin Poirier knocked out Conor McGregor in brutal fashion in the second round to pick up a massive upset win. As well, Michael Chandler had an incredible UFC debut in the co-main event when he knocked out Octagon veteran Dan Hooker. Along with Charles Oliveira, these are the fighters who are currently vying for a fight with Nurmagomedov. But the opportunity to fight the champ might not come if he vacates his title.

Chimaev was one of a number of fighters who took a shot at McGregor following his surprising knockout defeat at UFC 257. McGregor had a fast start to the contest, winning the first round on all three judges’ scorecards, but the second round was a much different story as he was stopped by strikes.
