Former featherweight champ Germaine de Randamie forced out of UFC 268 due to injury

Germaine de Randamie (10-4) will no longer be a part of the big upcoming UFC 268 event in November. ESPN Deportes revealed Wednesday that the Netherlands’ “Iron Lady” had been forced out of her bantamweight contender bout with Irene Aldana on Nov. 6 due to an undisclosed injury. It remains to be seen if Mexico’s Aldana will remain on the card or not.

Trump will be on the commentary team for Saturday’s ‘Triller: Legends 2’ event. Although new to color commentary, Trump and fighting have been intertwined for some time now, most notably with top contender Colby Covington’s friendship. “Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, Trump says he’s making an ‘obscene’ amount of money providing ‘live, alternative commentary’ on the Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort fight. We’re told Triller, the media company behind the event, is paying a fortune … millions and millions for his blow-by-blow analysis, though our sources would not be more specific.” (According to TMZ)

UFC legend BJ Penn shared his theory as to why former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov would not fight welterweight kingpin Kamaru Usman. Penn was once considered the greatest lightweight in UFC history, but Nurmagomedov and his 29-0 MMA/13-0 UFC record has surpassed Penn in the eyes of many as the lightweight GOAT. Penn, however, recently shot back at that notion, saying that he believed Nurmagomedov walked away from his career too early. In addition, Penn also believes that Nurmagomedov did not challenge himself enough by moving to another weight class.

UFC middleweight contender Jared Cannonier sent a message to divisional rival Derek Brunson, saying that “I’m getting the title shot first.” Cannonier is currently the No. 3 ranked middleweight in the UFC and he is coming off of a big win over Kelvin Gastelum in his last fight. Brunson, meanwhile, is ranked at No. 4 and he is coming off of five straight wins, including a submission over Darren Till last weekend at UFC Vegas 36. Following the big win over Till, Brunson called for a title shot against UFC middleweight Israel Adesanya, but as far as Cannonier goes, he deserves the next 185lbs title shot first, after Robert Whittaker and Adesanya meet in early 2022.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz admitted that he is no longer pursuing a fight against former divisional kingpin Jon Jones. Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson last February at UFC Rio Rancho, and Jones himself was in attendance for that fight. At the time, Jones was the reigning and defending UFC light heavyweight champion, and it was widely expected that he would fight Blachowicz for the belt. However, Jones decided to instead vacate his belt and announce that he was moving up to the UFC heavyweight division, instead. That left the belt vacant and Blachowicz won it when he knocked out Dominick Reyes last year at UFC 253.

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley provided an update on the “I love Jake Paul” tattoo and a potential rematch between them. The original bet between Woodley and Paul was that the loser of the fight was supposed to get a tattoo of the other’s name, but Woodley didn’t end up getting the tattoo. Instead, “The Chosen One” told “The Problem Child” following his split decision loss that he would get the tattoo if Paul gave him the rematch. The two shook hands in the ring that night, but so far we haven’t heard of any date for the said rematch between these two men.

UFC lightweight contender Dan Hooker claims that Tony Ferguson has gone rogue, suggesting that “No one from the UFC can get a hold of him.” Hooker is set to return to the Octagon later this month when he faces off against rising contender Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 266. How Hooker landed on Haqparast as his opponent was somewhat surprising, as “The Hangman” was calling out a number of the top-15 lightweights in the promotion before Haqparast was the one who finally got the phone call.

Triller holds its next big event this Saturday at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. The main event of the card features an eight-round heavyweight boxing match between the legendary boxer Holyfield and the former MMA superstar Belfort. Also on the card is the co-main event between former UFC champions Tito Ortiz and Anderson Silva. The card starts at 7 pm ET on Saturday night and is available for purchase on PPV.

Derek Brunson reacted to reports that Darren Till had a torn ACL at UFC Vegas 36, saying “I’m used to people trying to minimize my wins.” Brunson smashed Till this past Saturday night in the main event of UFC Vegas 36 en route to a third-round submission victory. It was Brunson’s fifth straight win inside the Octagon, and it pushed him closer to the top of the UFC middleweight division’s rankings. However, in the wake of his big win over Till, there are now reports emerging that the Brit was injured with a torn ACL heading into the fight. Instead of giving Brunson the credit that he deserves, there are now some fans who are suggesting the dominant win over Till had more to do with his opponent’s pre-existing injury rather than what Brunson did himself.

Dan Hardy can’t believe that some fighters called for the banning of oblique kicks following Khalil Rountree’s TKO victory over Modestas Bukauskas. Rountree (9-5 MMA) squared off with Bukauskas (11-5 MMA) on the main card of last weekend’s UFC Vegas 36 event. The result was a second round TKO victory for ‘The War Horse’, who destroyed the knee of Modestas with a nasty oblique kick.

Evander Holyfield, who is 58-years-old, is making his return to boxing on Saturday against Vitor Belfort. Holyfield and Belfort are set to headline Triller Fight Club Legends 2 in Florida. Holyfield took the fight on about a weeks’ notice and many are worried about him returning to boxing at his age. Yet, on Wednesday, Holyfield had media workouts and he hit the pads which was the first time many saw him do so in years.
