Brendan Schaub seems to think that a proposed lightweight bout between Conor McGregor and Alexander Volkanovski makes sense. ‘The Great’ is fresh off a victory over Chan Sung Jung at UFC 273 earlier this month. Following the bout, the UFC featherweight champion opined that a move upwards might make sense. With not many matchups left at 145-pounds, he’s begun discussing a move to lightweight.

Jorge Masvidal is convinced that reigning UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is beatable. Usman has not lost in the UFC and is currently riding a 19-fight win streak. He has also defended his belt five times, so with that, he is atop the pound-for-pound rankings. However, for Masvidal, he says that doesn’t mean Usman is untouchable, as he says the champ’s striking and striking defense can be exposed.

Daniel Cormier doesn’t seem to be a fan of the proposed Jake Paul vs. Michael Bisping boxing match. ‘DC’ thinks the YouTuber should fight Anderson Silva instead. The last week has been full of trash talk from both ‘The Count’ and ‘The Problem Child’. While the two have discussed a showdown in the past, the feud became reignited when Paul said he would like to fight Bisping in a recent interview.

Gilbert Burns will be getting a big fight his next time out. At UFC 273, Burns took the risk of fighting rising star Khamzat Chimaev, this despite being ranked much higher than ‘Borz’. The fight ended up being much closer than many anticipated, with the Swede edging out a close decision victory. While it was ultimately a losing effort for ‘Durinho’, Dana White was so impressed by his performance that he paid Burns his win bonus.

Bellator fighter Corey Anderson has proclaimed that he’s the best light-heavyweight on the planet. He’s also questioning if Dana White is regretting releasing him from the UFC. ‘Overtime’ is coming off a no-contest with Vadim Nemov last weekend at Bellator 277. The bout came to a close due to an illegal headbutt near the end of the third round. Prior to the illegal blow, Anderson was in complete control and was on his way to winning light-heavyweight gold.

Jorge Masvidal has spoken about his loss to Colby Covington for the first time. Last month, ‘Chaos’ and ‘Gamebred’ met in the main event of UFC 272. The battle between friends turned foes was anything but competitive. With the exception of a fourth-round knockout, Covington dominated en route to a unanimous decision victory.

It has been announced that Sean Strickland (25-3 MMA), one of the UFC’s top 185-pounders, will be taking on rising star Alex Pereira (5-1 MMA) at UFC 277 on July 30th, 2022 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC Rankings Update: Dustin Poirier leapfrogs Jon Jones on P4P list

In the latest update of the UFC rankings Dustin Poirier has overtaken former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones on the pound-for-pound list. Poirier (28-7 MMA), last fought at UFC 269 in December 2021 against Charles Oliveira (32-8 MMA) in the lightweight main event. It was Oliveira who beat ‘The Diamond’ during that match-up. However, prior to that loss Poirier met and defeated Conor McGregor (22-6 MMA) twice during 2021.

Maycee Barber is glad her fight against Montana De La Rosa got rebooked. Barber and De La Rosa were set to fight at UFC 269 back in December but De La Rosa was forced out of the fight due to an injury. Shortly after that, Barber also suffered an injury and now that they are both healthy, they will fight on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 52.
