Sean O’Malley has given his thoughts on Tony Ferguson suffering a sixth consecutive defeat over the weekend. On Saturday night at UFC 291, Tony Ferguson was submitted in the final seconds of his fight against Bobby Green. It marks his sixth straight loss inside the Octagon, following on from a run in which he established himself as one of the best lightweights of all time. It’s been a hard transition for many of his biggest fans to accept, but such is the harsh nature of father time.

Luke Rockhold would like to be in the running to grapple Georges S-Pierre in December. It was recently announced that St-Pierre would return to competition as he is set to grapple at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational on Dec. 14. Although no opponent has been announced, several people have expressed interest in it, including Demian Maia. Most recently it was a fellow former UFC champion in Luke Rockhold who threw his name in the hat to be GSP’s grappling opponent.

The boxing match will be Jake Paul’s first ten-round fight, and also his first back with coach ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley.

Former UFC contender Nate Diaz doesn’t forsee Conor McGregor fighting Michael Chandler. ‘The Notorious’ has been out of the cage since a stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The former double-champion broke his leg in the final seconds of the first round, prompting him to be on the shelf for over two years. During that time, Conor McGregor famously left USADA to recover from the injury.

After Poirier suffered a headkick KO loss at UFC 291, he spoke to Ariel Helwani on Monday and Helwani claimed Poirier didn’t need the BMF belt and was already a Hall of Famer. However, Conor McGregor doesn’t think that is the case at all as he says all Poirier has is one lucky win over him. Outside of that, he hasn’t won a UFC title and doesn’t have the resume to be a Hall of Famer.

In the main event of UFC 291, the vacant BMF title was up for grabs as Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier were set for their highly-anticipated rematch. Gaethje entered the fight coming off a majority decision win over Rafael Fiziev back in March to return to the win column. In the fight prior, he lost to Charles Oliveira for the lightweight belt.
