UFC books three new fights including Miesha Tate dropping to flyweight to fight Lauren Murphy

Miesha Tate is off to flyweight. Tate, the former bantamweight champion, hinted at possibly dropping to 125lbs after her friend Julianna Pena won the promotions 135lbs belt. Now, according to MMAFighting, Tate will indeed drop down in weight as she will fight Lauren Murphy at UFC 273 on April 9.

Korean Zombie is reportedly the favorite to replace Max Holloway and face Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 272 for the featherweight belt. Earlier on Friday, it was revealed Holloway was forced out of the bout due to an injury. However, sources told BJPENN.com that the Hawaiian had never signed the contract so the fight was never truly official. But, after the news came out that Holloway was out, multiple featherweights put their name in the hat to fight Volkanovski, despite Korean Zombie being the front runner.

However, they had a massive falling out which caused “Chaos” to leave the ATT gym and since then, the two have been going back and forth at one another. After Covington lost to Kamaru Usman he told Masvidal to pull out of his UFC 269 fight against Leon Edwards so they could fight. While, “Gamebred” did not grant Colby his wish, he did end up having to pull out of the Edwards bout due to injury.
Max Holloway forced to withdraw from UFC 272 trilogy fight with Alex Volkanovski

UFC featherweight Max Holloway has been forced to pull out of his UFC 272 trilogy showdown with Alexander Volkanovski. ESPN is reporting that Holloway, who accepted the fight just a matter of days ago, aggravated an old injury on Thursday and will therefore be unable to compete on the March 5 card in Las Vegas. As of this writing, no official statement has been made by the UFC regarding a potential replacement or whether the fight will be rescheduled for a later date.
