UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis addressed the ongoing debate surrounding who should get the next title shot after a wild night at UFC 308. Khamzat Chimaev defeated former titleholder Robert Whittaker by first-round submission in the UFC 308 co-main event last weekend. Chimaev, who is now 2-0 in his middleweight tenure, is on the cusp of getting his shot at UFC gold after a roller coaster last few years.

Dana White had second thoughts about his decision not to throw in the BMF title for Ilia Topuria vs. Max Holloway. Topuria put his featherweight gold at stake against Holloway in the UFC 308 headliner. Ahead of the fight, Topuria wanted the BMF title to be on the line. The UFC brass weren’t on board with the idea.

Carla Esparza has no plan to end her retirement due to a controversial decision. Esparza shared the Octagon with Tecia Pennington at UFC 307 in early October. The bout went the distance and Pennington was awarded the unanimous decision. Many were split on this verdict, as some scored the fight for Esparza, while others believed the judges got it right.

In the co-main event, Tom Aspinall met Curtis Blaydes in a rematch of their encounter in 2022. While their first bout ended in an injury win for ‘Razor’, the second contest ended in a brutal knockout win for the Brit.

Back for the first time since winning featherweight gold against Alexander Volkanovski in February, Ilia Topuria met ‘Blessed’. Max Holloway earned the title shot with a stunning knockout victory over Justin Gaethje in April.

McGregor was supposed to face Michael Chandler in his long-awaited return at UFC 303 in Las Vegas. But, just weeks before the marquee event, McGregor withdrew from the contest after suffering a toe injury during his camp.

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his legal team have reached a resolution in his assault case in Albuquerque involving two Drug-Free Sport testers at his home. Jones, who faces Stipe Miocic in the UFC 309 main event on November 16, was supposed to appear in court on Tuesday before his attorneys announced a plea deal had been reached. All charges against Jones, including assault and interference with communication, will be dismissed as long as Jones completes an anger management course.
