Jared Cannonier can hold his head up high following UFC Vegas 102, but he’s unsure of his path to gold. Cannonier shared the Octagon with Gregory Rodrigues in the main event of UFC Vegas 102 this past Saturday night. The action was held inside the UFC Apex. “The Killa Gorilla” was in a world of trouble in the opening frame, as he was dropped by “Robocop.” Cannonier weathered the storm and gained the advantage as Rodrigues began to tire.

Speaking on his own podcast, Anthony Smith took issue with Rampage Jackson’s habit of making fun of fighters behind their back, while being nice to their face. That led to a lengthy rant from the 46-year-old, who threatened to slap Smith next time he sees him.

Chael Sonnen is coming to the defense of Sean Strickland’s head coach Eric Nicksick. Nicksick surprised many within the MMA community with some brutal honesty on his working relationship with Strickland. Nicksick made the comments during his appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show.” On the program, Nicksick said that his job is to train world champions. He was adamant that Strickland needs to decide what he wants to do going forward. This was after Strickland suffered a one-sided loss to Dricus du Plessis in their UFC 312 rematch.

Merab Dvalishvili has two possible challengers in mind for his UFC Bantamweight Championship. Dvalishvili is riding high following his impressive performance against Umar Nurmagomedov in the co-main event of UFC 311. The Georgian titleholder was able to thwart his opponent’s grappling efforts and managed to outwork him for a unanimous decision victory. It was the first successful title defense for Dvalishvili and now he is looking ahead.
