While some felt the hard-hitting Brazilian could pose the former champion some issues in his PFL debut, he instead scored a first-round knockout win.

Earlier this month, Tyson Fury suddenly announced his retirement from professional boxing. ‘The Gypsy King’ was last seen in the ring in December, suffering a close decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk. While many called for Fury to finally face Anthony Joshua next, the British heavyweight instead decided to hang up the gloves.

PFL heavyweight star Francis Ngannou is down to face Deontay Wilder in the boxing ring. ‘The Predator’ is fresh off his return to the cage last month in Saudi Arabia. Back for the first time since being knocked out by Anthony Joshua in March, Francis Ngannou faced Renan Ferreira in the PFL. The bout was the former UFC champion’s first in MMA since defeating Ciryl Gane in January 2022. Ultimately, it took just one round for Ngannou to knockout ‘Problema’.

Deontay Wilder last appeared in the boxing ring in June, against Zhilei Zhang in Saudi Arabia. For the former champion, the bout offered the chance to redeem himself for his loss to Joseph Parker last December. That loss to the Australian derailed plans to face Anthony Joshua in March.

For Deontay Wilder, the bout was his first since a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Joseph Parker in December. That defeat prevented the former heavyweight champion from facing longtime rival Anthony Joshua in March.

However, Deontay Wilder has seen better years. Since losing his WBC heavyweight title to Tyson Fury in early 2020, the American has struggled to get back on track. He later lost a trilogy bout to ‘The Gypsy King’ in 2021, losing by 11th-round knockout.
