UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones is weighing his options following failed negotiations with his current employer, the UFC. A couple of weeks ago, ‘Bones’ expressed interest in moving up a weight class to take on feared knockout artist Francis Ngannou. Unfortunately for fight fans, negotiations for the fight broke down and shortly after Jones suggested he was considering taking a hiatus from MMA.

UFC president Dana White shot down a potential matchup between former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva and former UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis. Pettis reached out to Silva on social media this week and requested a matchup against the legend, which the Brazilian accepted. Fans seemed to be excited about the prospect of a potential catchweight fight between two former UFC champions, but that won’t be happening anytime soon as White shot down any notion of this matchup.

UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson took a shot at “fat boy” Karl Roberson after the rising contender missed weight by 4.5lbs at UFC Las Vegas. Roberson stepped onto the scale at 190.5lbs for his middleweight bout against Marvin Vettori, which is scheduled to be the co-main event under the headliner between women’s flyweights Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo this weekend. Both Eye and Roberson missed weight, making this a rare card where both the main event and co-main event saw a headliner miss their respective weight limit. In Roberson’s case, it was the biggest weight miss on a card full of them.

UFC bantamweight title contender Petr Yan told rising star Sean O’Malley that he is “working for me now” after O’Malley took a shot at the Russian on social media. O’Malley told Yan on Twitter that he doesn’t spell his name the right way, poking fun at the fact he spells it Petr and not “Peter.” It was O’Malley’s way to keep himself in Yan’s eyesight while the Russian takes on Jose Aldo for the vacant UFC bantamweight title in July at UFC 251. Although O’Malley is No. 15 in the rankings and Yan is No. 3, O’Malley is doing his best to try and get under Yan’s skin and keep his name on Yan’s radar.

Former UFC women’s flyweight title challenger Jessica Eye (15-7 MMA) has had a rough time making weight as of late. ‘Evil Eye’ missed weight for her event headlining bout with Cynthia Calvillo earlier today in Las Vegas. It marked the second time in as many fights that Jessica has failed to make the non-title fight flyweight limit of 126lbs.

UFC President Dana White was not happy with the MMA Media for what he called “bulls–t headlines“ regarding Conor McGregor turning down fights. Earlier this week the UFC boss had spoken with ESPN where he suggested that McGregor had turned down a short-notice fight with Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.

UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley blasted title contender Petr Yan on social media, criticizing the Russian for the way he spells his name. O’Malley is one of the hottest fighters at 135lbs right now after picking up a stunning KO over Eddie Wineland at UFC 250. Yan, meanwhile, is one of the top bantamweights in the sport and is set to fight Jose Aldo at UFC 251 for the vacant title. Yet despite O’Malley and Yan being far apart in the rankings, O’Malley didn’t hesitate to take a shot at Yan on social media.

Dana White says Jorge Masvidal is very similar to the Diaz brothers in terms of negotiating fights. For years, the UFC has had a hard time getting both Nick and Nate Diaz into the Octagon. The two have wanted more money and at one point, White said he was having someone else in the UFC deal with the Diaz brothers as he couldn’t bare the frustration anymore. The two have gone years in between fights and now the UFC boss says it is getting very similar with Jorge Masvidal.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has a bold prediction for his upcoming rematch with the former champ Max Holloway, which co-headlines the UFC 251 card on July 11 in Abu Dhabi. Volkanovski defeated Holloway be decision to claim the UFC featherweight title late last year. Holloway, who ruled over the division or several years, was granted an immediate rematch on the basis of his accomplishments.
