It’s no secret that Mark Hunt is not a fan of Performance-Enhancing drug use in MMA — particularly in the UFC. Now that the’s parted ways with the UFC, he’s even more open about his feelings on the issue. “They’ve actually taken my love for fighting away because of how they promote steroids and cheaters, how they’ve done it all,” Hunt told MMA UK recently, speaking of the UFC (transcript via MMA Fighting). “They’ve pushed me out of the way, to be honest and that’s what’s taken my love for fighting away. It’s kind of sad because they should be promoting the guy that’s not cheating whereas they are promoting the cheaters of this sport, which is wrong. I actually thought Jeff Novitzky was a nice person but he’s just a sellout. You’re a sellout, bro. That’s the bottom line.”

After an ‘atypical finding’ in one of Jones’ drug tests ahead of UFC 232, the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to grant Jones his license to compete. Though Hunt seemed to be giving Oleynik some trouble early, he wound up being submitted by the Russian in the bout’s first round. With his outcome, the 44-year-old Mark Hunt is on a two-fight losing streak, and a tough 1-3 in his last four fights. While he is still a tough out for any heavyweight on the roster, he appears to be nearing the end of the road.

Earlier this week, we learned that former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum had been handed a two-year suspension by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). This suspension stems from an out-of-competition urine test, in which Werdum tested positive for Trenbolone and its metabolite Epitrenbolone. Shortly after Fabricio Werdum’s suspension was announced, his former opponent Mark Hunt, one of MMA’s most vocal steroid critics, issued a scathing reaction.

While Blaydes got the win he was chasing, he did have to weather some adversity in this fight, as Hunt very nearly put him down with punches in the first frame. Luckily, though, his chin held strong, and he was able to survive this scare.
