Kevin Lee agrees to six-month suspension with the Nevada State Athletic Commission

Harry Kettle - November 18, 2021

UFC fighter Kevin Lee has agreed to a six-month suspension with the Nevada State Athletic Commission. In the wake of his loss to Daniel Rodriguez earlier this year, news began to surface that Kevin Lee had tested positive for adderall. In the wake of this discovery, Lee came clean and admitted that while he used it to help with his ADHD, he didn’t apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption from the NSAC.

Kevin Lee removed from UFC rankings pool following suspension for Adderall

Adam D Martin - October 27, 2021

Current UFC welterweight and former lightweight fighter Kevin Lee was removed from the UFC rankings pool following a suspension for Adderall. Lee was recently suspended indefinitely following a positive test for Adderall following his unanimous decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez this past summer. Lee had been given a prescription for the drug by his doctor, but he did not inform the Nevada Athletic Commission about it and did not apply for a TUE (therapeutic use exemption). Because Lee did not follow the protocols correctly, he is now suspended. He has accepted full responsibility for the situation, though he has denied trying to cheat.

Kevin Lee "less embarrassed" now after being suspended for Adderall

Adam D Martin - October 26, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Kevin Lee admitted that he is “less embarrassed” now after being suspended for using Adderall. Lee recently revealed that he had failed his post-fight drug test following his fight this summer against Daniel Rodriguez. The reason he failed was due to testing positive for Adderall without having a therapeutic use exemption. The Nevada Athletic Commission then flagged Lee and he is currently in the process of figuring out the length of his suspension. But while Lee is still overall embarrassed by how the whole situation has played out, there is one thing that is making him feel better, and that’s seeing fans reaching out to him and actually giving him support rather than kicking him down.

Justin Gaethje takes aim at “b*tch” Kevin Lee: “That knockout against Gillespie was the worst thing that could’ve happened to him”

Adam D Martin - September 21, 2021

Justin Gaethje took aim at “b*tch” Kevin Lee, saying “that knockout against Gillespie was the worst thing that could’ve happened to him.” Gaethje was recently a guest of UFC Unfiltered and he was asked his thoughts on the rest of the lightweight division. When asked about UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira’s current win streak, Geathje criticized the Brazilian for what he perceives to be a soft schedule of competition. Outside of Tony Ferguson, according to Gaethje, Oliveira didn’t have any good wins during his win streak before he fought Michael Chandler for the vacant title at UFC 262. Well, he says, Lee was a pretty good win too — with a caveat.

Kevin Lee sends a message to Mike Perry: "December is good for me"

Adam D Martin - September 1, 2021

UFC welterweight Kevin Lee sent a message to his rival Mike Perry, telling his potential future opponent that “December is good for me.” Lee lost a unanimous decision to Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 35 this past weekend, a loss that gave him four defeats in his last five tries. Perry has also lost four of his last five fights, and with both men struggling to keep their spot on the stacked UFC roster, it does make a lot of sense to match these two up in a potential loser-leaves-the UFC matchup.

Lee was moving up to welterweight and was set to fight Sean Brady, but Brady was forced out of the bout and replaced by Rodriguez. Dana White casts doubt on Kevin Lee continuing to fight under the UFC banner

Adam D Martin - August 29, 2021

UFC president Dana White has cast doubt on Kevin Lee continuing to fight under the UFC banner following his latest loss inside the Octagon. Lee lost a unanimous decision to Daniel Rodriguez on the UFC Vegas 35 undercard on Saturday night. For Lee, this was his first fight back in the Octagon since losing to Charles Oliveira in March 2020. After losing to Rodriguez, Lee dropped to just 2-5 overall in his last seven fights, including a winless mark of 0-2 while competing as a welterweight. Because Lee has had such a poor record as of late, there is no guarantee that the UFC keeps him around the world’s leading MMA promotion going forward, according to White himself.

Kevin Lee doesn’t believe Mike Perry should still be in the UFC: “You’re holding up some other kid’s dream”

Harry Kettle - August 27, 2021

Kevin Lee doesn’t think Mike Perry should still be a member of the UFC roster after reportedly rejecting the prospect of fighting him. Perry, who is coming off the back of seven losses in his last ten fights, has been the subject of great debate as of late when it comes to his future in the promotion. Some feel as if he’s too entertaining to cut, whereas others want to see him being given one last chance to shine under the lights.

Kevin Lee reacts to Conor McGregor's recent downfall in the UFC: "Drugs are a hell of a thing"

Adam D Martin - August 26, 2021

UFC welterweight Kevin Lee reacted to MMA superstar Conor McGregor’s recent downfall in the UFC, saying “Drugs are a hell of a thing.” McGregor suffered two straight TKO defeats to his rival Dustin Poirier this year alone, with him losing via second-round knockout at UFC 257 in January and then losing via first-round doctor stoppage TKO at UFC 264 in July when he broke his leg. In the wake of his loss to Poirier, McGregor has been taking to social media to make numerous comments and remarks about a number of different fighters, including Poirier and Daniel Cormier. As far as Lee goes, he sees a man who is frustrated, and one who has been changed by drugs.

Kevin Lee says he would beat Tony Ferguson "so bad" in a rematch: "He's too far over the hill"

Adam D Martin - August 23, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Kevin Lee says that he would beat Tony Ferguson “so bad” in a rematch, suggesting “he’s too far over the hill.” Ferguson and Lee first met at UFC 216 in October 2018 in an interim UFC lightweight title bout, which “El Cucuy” ended up winning via third-round submission (triangle choke). Since that fight, Ferguson has gone into a decline, having lost his last three fights in a row and not appearing competitive in any of them. Lee, too, has struggled as of late, but given Lee is just 28 and Ferguson is 37, it stands to reason that if one of these two fighters is going to bounce back in their career, it is more likely going to be “The Motown Phenom.”
