UFC welterweight contenders Vicente Luque and Kevin Holland might get to fight each other after all. The Brazilian was slated to return to the ring this Saturday night at UFC 296 against Ian Garry. However, that battle between teammates was derailed due to ‘The Future’ coming down with an illness. As a result, he pulled out of his fight with Vicente Luque late last night. However, it didn’t take long for Kevin Holland to answer the call.

UFC fighter Kevin Holland has claimed that he has not been offered a fight with Michael ‘Venom’ Page, also known as MVP. In the last few days, rumors have been circulating regarding Michael Page signing for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Page himself has teased the idea, whereas a recent interview revealed that Dana White has Michael Page vs Kevin Holland as a possible fight for UFC 297 in his war room. Of course, up to this point, there’s been no official announcement on the matter.

Last weekend, Kevin Holland battled Jack Della Maddalena in the co-main event of Noche UFC. While there were some entertaining moments, the bout failed to really live up to the hype, with Della Maddalena getting the nod via split decision. For Holland, it drops him to 2-3 in his last five fights, with all five of those contests coming in the last twelve months.

Jack Della Maddalena admits that getting past Kevin Holland was no easy task. Maddalena and Holland shared the Octagon inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the co-main event of Noche UFC. The bout was tough to score, as both men had success in the standup but were equally as effective with their defense. Ultimately, this one went the distance and ended in a split decision. Two of the three judges scored the fight for Maddalena, awarding him the win.

Grasso (16-3 MMA) will be looking to earn her first title defense when she takes to the Octagon this evening. The 30-year-old captured the promotion’s flyweight world title this past March at UFC 285, when she upset ‘The Bullet’ by way of fourth-round submission. That win marked Alexa’s fifth in a row, as she previously defeated the likes of Kim Ji-yeon, Maycee Barber, Joanne Wood and Viviane Araujo.

Kevin Holland would like to share the Octagon with Ian Machado Garry, but he doesn’t think the bout will happen in the near future. Garry has been emerging in the UFC welterweight division. He’s fresh off a dominant unanimous decision victory over seasoned veteran Neil Magny at UFC 292. Garry has called for a showdown with Stephen Thompson, but “Wonderboy” is more interested in a clash with former UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman.

A welterweight banger will serve as the co-main event of Noche UFC in September. Noche UFC is the Mexican Independence Day Card on Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The original co-main event was Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Kelvin Gastelum, but the latter was forced out of the scrap due to an injury. Now, Twitter user Stand Em Up has reported that Kevin Holland will take on Jack Della Maddalena as the new co-main event.

The UFC 291 salaries have been released – but only a handful have actually been made public for fans to see. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most recent pay-per-view event was, by all accounts, a success. The promotion put on another fantastic card, headlined by Justin Gaethje knocking out Dustin Poirier to win the BMF title. In addition to that, we also saw a parade of other fun match-ups, setting us up for even more entertaining collisions in the future.

When Holland was fighting at middleweight, he was easily taken down by Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori. The losses showed a hole in his game and since then, Holland has dropped to welterweight and hasn’t had to show off much of his takedown defense as he has been fighting strikers.
