Jorge Masvidal believes the UFC needs to pay the top fighters more money. Masvidal, who helped the UFC sell over one million pay-per-view buys for his UFC 251 fight against Kamaru Usman, wants to be compensated more for the number of pay-per-views he sells. “Gamebred,” says he also wants to stick up for other fighters who deserve to make more money.

Jorge Masvidal explained why he can’t get behind Ben Askren in boxing, suggesting “he really disrespected striking” during his MMA career. On Saturday, Askren makes his pro boxing debut when he faces off against YouTuber Jake Paul. For Askren, it’s his first boxing match after spending the last decade-plus in mixed martial arts, and so he will be somewhat representing the sport of MMA when he steps into the ring this weekend. However, not everyone is convinced he’s truly representing MMA.

Jorge Masvidal has introduced his own video platform after seemingly being hit with copyright strikes or perhaps even bans on multiple social media sites. “Gamebred” has never been shy when it comes to voicing his opinion, and he also doesn’t hold back when given the opportunity to call someone out – and in this case, it seems to be the likes of YouTube and Instagram that he’s got a problem with.

He knew he could beat Usman on a full camp and started to take shots at the champ and even called him a coward. Yet, for Abdelaziz, he doesn’t understand why “Gamebred” believes his client is a coward.

Jorge Masvidal knows he and Nate Diaz will eventually rematch. At UFC 244 in November of 2019, Masvidal and Diaz fought for the BMF title in a highly-anticipated bout. Early on, “Gamebred” was landing heavy shots and even dropped Diaz with a kick. As the fight wore on, Masvidal kept on the pressure and after the third round, the doctor stopped the fight due to a cut above Diaz’s eye.

ONE Championship flyweight champion Adriano Moraes credited teammate Jorge Masvidal for the knee that knocked out Demetrious Johnson. Moraes shocked the world when he knocked out Johnson at ONE on TNT 1 on Wednesday night. The underrated Brazilian was a +500 underdog at the sportsbooks to defeat Johnson, who was a 10-to-1 favorite, but he did just that and more with flying colors. After a competitive first round that saw Moraes utilize his size advantage, in the second round Moraes dropped Johnson with an uppercut, and then he finished him off with a brutal knee on the ground. It was an incredible win for Moraes that legitimizes him as a champion.

Jorge Masvidal has an interesting reason why he didn’t end up coaching The Ultimate Fighter against Colby Covington. When the UFC announced the return of the show, all the signs pointed to Masvidal and Covington serving as the coaches. Dana White said the coaches would be welterweights. Yet, as the UFC wanted to have a full capacity crowd in Jacksonville, those plans changed. The promotion decided to book Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal 2 and Covington was left on the outside looking in.

Former UFC welterweight Ben Askren says that rival Jorge Masvidal “looks like a dope” for supporting his upcoming boxing opponent Jake Paul. Askren is set to take on Paul in a boxing match on Triller on April 17. As part of his training camp, Paul brought in Masvidal to help train with him for Askren. As well, Masvidal made a guest appearance during the recent Triller press conference when Paul called him up on FaceTime. These two have been going back-and-forth on social media as of late, arguing about the famous flying knee about UFC 239. It’s still one of the most incredible highlight-reel finishes we have ever seen in mixed martial arts. Even though it was two years ago, there isn’t a day that goes by that Masvidal or fans don’t remind him of the flying knee.

Ever since then, the two have continued to talk trash to each other on social media here-and-there. But now that Askren is back in the spotlight with the boxing match against Jake Paul just around the corner, the past rivalry between Askren and Masvidal seems to have been re-ignited. After Masvidal appeared on FaceTime at a recent Asken vs. Paul press conference to troll his longtime rival, Askren took another shot at Masvidal on social media. The cycle continues.

Askren returns to combat sports on April 17 when he fights Jake Paul on the latest Triller boxing card. Askren retired from the UFC in late 2019 following a submission loss to Demian Maia. That loss came on the heels of a brutal flying knee KO loss to Masvidal at UFC 239. In that fight, “Gamebred” needed just five seconds to rush across the Octagon and nail Asken right on the chin, and it put him out cold. It’s considered by many to be one of the best knockouts in MMA history and will be on the highlight-reel for years to come.
