The UFC Rio weigh-ins are over, and only one fighter on the card missed weight, and it was by a significant margin. Fight fans can breathe easy knowing that all of the main card fighters successfully made weight. Both headliners Charles Oliveira and Mateusz Gamrot tipped the scales at 156 pounds. Co-headliners Deiveson Figueiredo and Montel Jackson also made weight for their bantamweight clash.

Yet, it was Gamrot who got the shot, and his coach shared a video of the Polish contender finding out he was getting the main event spot.

Mateusz Gamrot has a new nickname for one UFC lightweight who he’s been trying to fight. Gamrot is fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Ľudovít Klein in what ended up being the final bout on the UFC Vegas 107 card. It was a one-sided showing in favor of the No. 7-ranked UFC lightweight, who had a clean sweep of 30-27 score totals. Gamrot has gone 4-1 in his last five outings, with the lone defeat being a split decision.

Tsarukyan’s next fight has not been revealed since he pulled out of a scheduled UFC lightweight title fight back in January. Tsarukyan was planned to challenge Islam Makhachev in a highly anticipated rematch. Hours before the weigh-ins, Tsarukyan informed UFC officials that he suffered a back injury and had to be removed from the card.

Gamrot lost to Hooker by split decision on the UFC 305 main card on Saturday. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for Gamrot, and despite finding success with his wrestling, he took the more significant damage in the fight from Hooker.
