Jeremy Stephens didn’t get the victory he was hoping for in his unexpected return to the UFC. The good news is that he seems to be taking his recent loss well. Stephens is one of the most experienced fighters in UFC, tallying 34 fights in the featherweight and lightweight divisions, dating all the way back to 2007. However, he parted ways with the promotion in 2021 following a decision loss to Mateusz Gamrot. Stephens was closing in on his mid-30s by that point, and was winless in his last six fights, so it seemed unlikely he would ever return to the promotion.

Stephens last fought in the UFC 2021 when he was submitted by Mateusz Gamrot which was his third-straight loss and sent his winless streak to six straight. After the loss, the UFC parted ways with Stephens but he’s now back as he will fight in his hometown of Des Moines to face Mason Jones.

Alvarez entered the bout as the favorite, but early on, Stephens landed a massive punch that appeared to hurt Alvarez. Stephens and 2023 UFC Hall of Fame inductee Jose Aldo went one-on-one on the Gamebred Boxing 4 card. The bout lasted through all six rounds and the judges scored this one as a majority draw. During the event, McGregor took to his Twitter account to respectfully call Aldo out for a boxing match. Aldo had none of it, as he blasted McGregor when speaking to reporters at the Gamebred Boxing 4 post-fight press conference.
