UFC 256 could feature two welterweight title fights. Yes, that’s right two. According to a report from TMZ, undisputed welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is set defend his title against Gilbert Burns on the card, and a BMF title rematch between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is also in the works for the event. Usman was originally expected to defend his title against Burns in July. Regrettably, Burns, who is riding a huge win over Tyron Woodley, was forced out of the fight when he tested positive for COVID-19. He was then replaced by Masvidal, who Usman defeated by unanimous decision.

UFC flyweight contender Jessica Eye has found herself in a tough spot as she recovers from a Staph infection and a recent surgery. Speaking on Twitter on Tuesday, Eye opened up to her followers about her “desperate” situation, and conceded that she’s “begging” for help.

UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson offered to help Brock Lesnar train for a potential heavyweight fight against Jon Jones. Reports emerged this week that Lesnar is currently a free agent after his contract with the WWE expired, and already there are rumors that Lesnar could make a return to mixed martial arts. He has already been connected to a fight in the UFC against Jon Jones — who says he will beat Lesnar — and a fight in Bellator against the great Fedor Emelianenko. If he does return, then he has a training partner ready and willing in Ferguson.

Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg believes retired two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is a “shill” for the Las Vegas-based promotion. Speaking on a recent episode of ESPN’s DC and Helwani show, Cormier divulged that he was paid a $1M bonus after his 2015 decision loss to Jon Jones. He also revealed that he received a $400,000 bonus after he defeated Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in 2015.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan was very impressed by the handiwork of Aleksandar Rakic and Neil Magny at last weekend’s UFC Vegas 8 card. Rakic had a starring role in the card, defeating former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith in the main event. Magny, meanwhile, picked up a decision victory over the former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in the evening’s co-headliner.

Montano was expected to fight Avila on September 5, but had to withdraw from the matchup when she tested positive for COVID-19. Unfortunately, this is far from the first fight she’s been forced to withdraw from of late, and the stresses of going so long without a payday are starting to pile up.

Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier explained why he’s retiring from MMA, saying “you can’t fight father time.” Cormier lost a unanimous decision to Stipe Miocic in their trilogy fight at UFC 252, and all signs were pointing to him retiring after the fight. The 41-year-old Cormier left the door slightly open at the time when he said that he would potentially still compete in a title fight, but after a couple of weeks of thinking it over, Cormier has decided he is done with MMA.

Daniel Cormier believes if Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic fight sometime soon, it will be Ngannou getting his hand raised in the rematch. Miocic and Ngannou first fought in the main event of UFC 220. Entering the fight, many thought Ngannou would land the knockout punch. Yet, that is far from what happened as he was dominated for five rounds as Miocic defended his belt.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort has sent a scathing message to the chief rival of his career, Wanderlei Silva. Over the weekend, Silva shared a poster for a fictional fight card involving himself and Belfort, as well as other legends like Fedor Emelianenko, Tito Ortiz, and Rashad Evans. Belfort, who defeated Silva by first-round knockout way back in 1998 and has been open to a rematch ever since, was not impressed by his rival’s post.

Dillashaw reigned over the UFC bantamweight division from late 2017 to early 2019. After a loss to Henry Cejudo at flyweight, however, he tested positive for the banned substance EPO, vacated his title, and was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo plans to put a hurting on Cody Garbrandt for skipping the line in the division. Garbrandt, the former UFC bantamweight champion, will challenge Figueiredo for the flyweight title in the main event of UFC 255 on November 21. The bout will mark Garbrandt’s debut in the flyweight division, and many fans and pundits feel that he hasn’t earned the opportunity to fight for gold in the weight class yet.
