Last Saturday night, Dominick Cruz’s hopes of regaining the UFC bantamweight championship took a huge blow when he was knocked out by Marlon Vera in their main event clash at UFC San Diego. Geoff Neal always knew he was going to fight Vicente Luque and he’s quite happy with how it played out. Neal and Luque were the co-main event of UFC Vegas 59 two weekends ago and Neal scored a third-round KO. However, in the first round, Neal appeared to have Luque hurt but he didn’t want to rush anything as he knew the Brazilian was still dangerous.

Dana White says the UFC made a big mistake in letting Shane Burgos hit free agency and eventually sign with the PFL. Before Burgos’ UFC Long Island fight against Charles Jourdain, he made it known that it was the final fight of his deal. After the event, White even said the plan was for the UFC to re-sign Burgos but the fan-favorite featherweight wanted to test free agency, and ultimately signed with the PFL.

According to My MMA News, VanZant was forced out of her BKFC 27 against Charisa Sigala which was set to take place this Saturday in London, England. The reason for the withdrawal is not known but the plan is to rebook the fight for October 15.

It will be Dillashaw (17-4 MMA) vs Sterling (21-3 MMA) in a bantamweight bout on October 22nd at UFC 280 which takes place at the Etihad Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Champion Aljamain Sterling will seek his second title defense against TJ Dillashaw in the co-main event.

UFC president Dana White has come under fire after the salaries for this past weekend’s event in San Diego were released. On Saturday night, the Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to California with a really fun event in San Diego. While it may not have been the most stacked card on paper, it certainly delivered in a big way with some tremendous fights littered throughout the card.

Sean Woodson is ready to make the walk to the Octagon again and will do so in front of fans at UFC 278. Woodson hasn’t fought since November of last year when he scored a first-round TKO over Collin Anglin. Although it was a quick finish, Woodson broke his hand again which kept him out of the Octagon for several months again.

Daniel Cormier and Darren Till got into a hilarious argument on Twitter late Saturday night after UFC San Diego had already concluded. Till, a UFC middleweight and former welterweight title challenger, likes to stir the pot every so often. This exchange with a Cormier, a former UFC double-champion, was no different. Since his retirement in 2020, Cormier has remained active within the UFC as a color commentator and analyst for ESPN on various UFC Fight Night shows and pay-per-view cards. Cormier also hosts a weekly show with former Super Bowl champion, Ryan Clark, called “DC and RC,” across ESPN platforms.
