Ever since Chimaev scored a one-punch KO over Gerald Meerschaert, many wondered what would be next for the Swede. Many fans called for him to fight a top-five opponent and Stephen Thompson’s name got brought up. However, “Wonderboy” said he wasn’t interested and Magny and Chimaev then verbally agreed to the fight on social media.

It would no doubt be a massive fight and if Adesanya could beat Blachowicz is only further the talks for the Jon Jones fight.

Paul Heyman, a fixture of the pro wrestling world, claims former two-division UFC champ Daniel Cormier was rejected by WWE brass. It’s no secret that Cormier is a big WWE fan, and after he retired from MMA in August, there was some speculation that he might do some work for the pro wrestling organization—particularly after he revealed he was in talks with them in 2018.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that The Ultimate Fighter will commence filming in November, but he says there are no coaches yet. White has been teasing a TUF comeback for several months now. The UFC’s infamous reality show from 2005 to 2018, TUF has been kicked to the can for two years now and on the back burner following the UFC leaving FOX for ESPN. Now that the UFC is fully entrenched on ESPN and ESPN+, White has said for a while now that the promotion would be bringing the show back. Now we have a better idea of when TUF is returning.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the UFC is working on a key heavyweight bout between Junior Dos Santos and Ciryl Gane. Gane was originally set to take on UFC newcomer Ante Delija at this Saturday’s UFC Fight Island 6 card, but Delija withdrew from the contest due to contractual issues, leaving Gane without an opponent. Now the UFC is targeting a bigger fight for Gane as White says the UFC is hoping to match him up against JDS. No date for the bout was revealed for the bout, which pits two of the UFC’s top-15 heavyweights against one another.

UFC women’s flyweight contender Cynthia Calvillo released a statement announcing she is out of UFC 254 after testing positive for COVID-19. Calvillo was set to take on Lauren Muphy in a potential No. 1 contender fight at 125lbs at next weekend’s UFC 254 pay-per-view card. However, she was forced to withdraw from the contest after testing positive for COVID-19. The former strawweight prospect made the announcement that she is out of the flyweight fight against Murphy on her Instagram.

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman says Khamzat Chimaev needs a humbling, and he’s willing to provide that humbling in January. Chimaev was the breakout UFC star of summer, 2020. The Chechen-Swede first picked up two wins in the span of 10 days on Fight Island in July, defeating John Phillips by first-round submission and Rhys McKee by first-round TKO, then picked up his third win of the season when he knocked out Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 11, also in the first round.

McGregor and Poirier have been connected to a second fight for a few months now, and it seems like we are getting closer to having the fight officially announced by the UFC. This week, UFC president Dana White confirmed he had offered McGregor the fight against Poirier, and “Notorious” later confirmed he had accepted the UFC’s offer of a fight against “The Diamond” in January. Coleman is one of the greatest heavyweight MMA fighters of all time and he knows a thing-or-two about the art of ground-and-pound. Coleman, after all, is considered along with Tito Ortiz as the pioneers of GNP, with “The Hammer” also going by the nickname “The Godfather of Ground and Pound.” One of Chimaev’s top moves is to take his opponents down and beat them up, and it looks like the legend Coleman has taken notice.

Georges St-Pierre vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov has a 50 percent chance of happening according to St-Pierre’s coach, Firas Zahabi. For quite some time, St-Pierre and Nurmagomedov have been linked to fighting one another. However, the UFC didn’t want to book it in case “GSP” won and walked away with the belt. Yet, with Nurmagomedov saying he will retire at 30-0, Zahabi says if the undefeated Russian beats Justin Gaethje he thinks the fight could happen.
