UFC Vegas 36 is officially in the books and throughout the card we saw a pretty fascinating mixture of results. Many thought the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer would win, and many thought by KO. However, in the lead-up to the fight, Paul said just days before the fight, he hyperextended his elbow.

Dan Hardy can’t believe that some fighters called for the banning of oblique kicks following Khalil Rountree’s TKO victory over Modestas Bukauskas. Rountree (9-5 MMA) squared off with Bukauskas (11-5 MMA) on the main card of last weekend’s UFC Vegas 36 event. The result was a second round TKO victory for ‘The War Horse’, who destroyed the knee of Modestas with a nasty oblique kick.

Evander Holyfield, who is 58-years-old, is making his return to boxing on Saturday against Vitor Belfort. Holyfield and Belfort are set to headline Triller Fight Club Legends 2 in Florida. Holyfield took the fight on about a weeks’ notice and many are worried about him returning to boxing at his age. Yet, on Wednesday, Holyfield had media workouts and he hit the pads which was the first time many saw him do so in years.

Anderson Silva wants to box Georges St-Pierre but doesn’t think Dana White will allow it. Since being released by the UFC, Silva has turned to boxing and beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June. He will now face Tito Ortiz on Saturday on Triller Fight Club, but one name he wants to box Georges St-Pierre, yet he doubts that happens.

The UFC Vegas 36 rankings update has been released and middleweight Derek Brunson and heavyweight Tom Aspinall both ascended in the official UFC rankings. Brunson defeated Darren Till via third-round submission to move up to No. 4 overall in the UFC middleweight rankings, swapping positions with Marvin Vettori. Brunson has won his last five straight fights and has been looking like a serious title contender as of late. He is hoping to get a rematch with UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, but he has also mentioned fights against the Paul brothers and Jared Cannonier as potential options.

UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns called out fellow top-10 ranked fighter Neil Magny, and “The Haitian Sensation” responded to him. Burns is coming off of a decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 and he is currently the No. 2 ranked fighter in the UFC welterweight division. Burns has called out the likes of Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal for his next fight, but so far, he hasn’t had anything booked. It seems like “Durinho” is now getting frustrated by sitting around and waiting, and he wants to get back into the cage soon. Since that’s the case, it seems like Burns is now willing to fight down the ladder, including against the No. 8 ranked Magny.

Taking the MMA media to task, UFC president Dana White blasted the “scumbags” in the media for telling UFC fighters they are underpaid. White was a recent guest on Travis Browne’s podcast and the two discussed a variety of topics, one of which was fighter pay. Browne defended the UFC for its pay structure, suggesting that he was actually paid even more than he was supposed to during his career, but there has been a lot of chatter in the media as of late that fighters are underpaid.

Julian Erosa knew he would not only beat Charles Jourdain but would finish him despite taking it on short notice. Erosa took the fight on 10 days’ notice and was confident he had the skill set to defeat him. He knew he was the more technical striker and had a big advantage on the ground. So, for Erosa, he said the game plan was to not get into a brawl and as the fight started to play out, to then implement his grappling.

UFC president Dana White shared a history lesson for UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou, saying “It’s pretty simple how this all works.” Ngannou is currently involved in a contract dispute with the UFC that is keeping him out of the Octagon at the present time. “The Predator” defeated Stipe Miocic by KO back in March to win the heavyweight belt, and for his first title defense, the plan was for Ngannou to fight former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, in a superfight. However, Jones could not come to an agreement with the UFC and the fight against Ngannou was scrapped.

Brendan Schaub claims that boxing legend Evander Holyfield required an aide in order to attend a charity event seven years ago. The 58-year-old Holyfield makes his return to the boxing ring this Saturday night when he takes on former UFC champion Vitor Belfort in the main event of the Triller Fight Club PPV event. The card, which features a co-main event boxing match between MMA legends Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz, was originally set to take place in California, but the event was moved to Florida after the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction Holyfield to fight. Considering he is 58 years old and stepping up on very short notice to take this fight against a dangerous opponent in Belfort, it’s understandable why California said no. Not to mention that Holyfield hasn’t stepped into the ring in over a decade.

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping shared his theory as to why Conor McGregor has been lashing out as of late on social media. Bisping is one of the UFC’s top analysts, and one of the reasons he is one of the best is because he himself has lived the highs and lows of an MMA fighter’s life. For McGregor, while his entire career has arguably been a high point just because of how much money he’s made, but from a fighting point of view, he’s hit a low recently due to losing back-to-back fights to Dustin Poirier via TKO. The two losses have led McGregor to become angry and he has lashed out on social media as of late against Poirier and his other rivals.

Last Saturday night, Paddy Pimblett went toe to toe with Luigi Vendramini in what proved to be a pretty fascinating lightweight encounter. Vendramini was able to land some nice shots on the Scouser but in the end, “The Baddy” managed to come out on top with a devastating first round finish.

However, he is taking over boxing as Fite TV announced Trump will serve as a host and commentator for Holyfield vs. Belfort on Saturday in Florida.
